i tried to find a thread on this + i am either completely blind or there isn't one..

i would love to know -Why did we not throw everything at North to try + get Hamish as our #1 Ruckman for the next 5yrs plus a handy 2nd/3rd forward option ....??

Have i missed something on this. Can not understand why we wouldnt have made a massive play for him...

Someone plsss enlighten me on this!

I'm not sure we initially thought that we could play Dawes, Cloke, HMAC, Lynch and Jolly in the same team, but now Dawes is moving on the only issue I have is injury. HMAC can play forward as that big marking option but maybe it's just because internally they know the HMAC to Cats is a done deal.

I like him as a player when fit, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be too often.

2 words: Injury prone! A great ruck when fit, but he is injured way too much! In the past few years he has had a few knee injuries which is a concern and he's 28 yrs old, I doubt he would be able to play in 5 years time.

1. Hamish is 28 years old, this combined with the fact that he has only played 8 games in the past 2 years suggests he wont last 2-3 more years, let alone '5 years'
2. As mentioned, injury prone so there would be doubts he'd be able to run out a season
3. Jolly is our no.1 for this year, so it would have been difficult to sell McIntosh the prospect of being 2nd in line for a whole season or 2 while we still have Jolly
4. Collingwood may view him as not being mobile enough or competent enough in the forward line to be a 2nd ruckman
5. Lynch was free and will probably be more effective in the 2nd ruck role as the 2nd ruck spends 85% of the time playing in the forward line
6. Collingwood may be feeling bullish about our current developing ruck stocks

for the next 5 years?

guy has chronic knee and achilles problems and has played only 8 games in the past 2 seasons for a total of 107 in a 10 year career.

He is 28, and give his history I wouldnt bank on him making it to 33 carrying #1 ruck load

Probably would not have picked up lynch if we had have planned on going for HMAC. not sure how he would go playing majority forward as the second ruck to jolly for a year (would imagine far superior to Brown though) - don't see a lot of north games with him and goldstein in the same team. Injury obviously the big issue, when fit would slot nicely into any team in the league you would think - maybe not West coast.

Because he is a ruckman with plenty of knee problems. It's like the Brian Lake risk, get a great season out of him and further premiership chances or he goes down again and you look crazy.

Hawthorn are panicking, not picking up a Premiership in their window for 4 years running now and are on their last legs. We on the other hand, have a few years left.

We wont take chances with key position players who are constantly injured and moving on in age for at least another year or two.

So in a word - injury

If he's good enough for Geelong i cant see how he's not good enough for us, but im sure our recruiting guys know what they are doing........

They're just topping up. We are going like for like with Lynch. Yet Lynch is 6 years older than Dawes..
