So far this season it is obvious that Palmer is being instructed to handball more than kick. This worries me as he is one the few players in our team who can sprint through the lines and kick ball 50 metres.Sure he will stuff some up when at top speed .

This is a development year (so Harvey tells us) so encourage Palmer to keep kicking and the improvement will come. I feel that the press critism is getting to Palmer. The coaches need to encourage him to keep kicking not handballing to other players who even at half Palmers speed still turn the ball over.

I worry that his kicking has got worse after his second pre season. How many promising players seem to under achieve at our Club. I hope Palmer doesn't become another under achieving player in the FFC development system.

I don't have a problem with him handballing, except that he is as good/bad as anyone else in the team, so I would encourage him to break the lines and back himself because the team needs that.

Ultimately though, I think he should model himself on Kerr or Sam Mitchell, but for that to work you need to have the class midfielders on the outside or you end up in the position Kerr is right now where he has to do it all and that wont work and just wears you down too much.

I wish FFC would just tell Palmer to keep doing what he did so well in 2008 and don't worry about the press (they are all just smarting over him winning the rising star over Rioli).

He plays his best footy when he backs himself.

I would much rather see him doing that than going into his shell!

I would also much rather see Hill and Suban taking shots from around the 50 rather than trying to spot team mates up as well. Guys like Peake, Browne and Solomon etc have shown enough for me to have an expectation they cannot kick set shots with reliability so the team thing, if Pav or Has aren't up there, is to have a go yourself.

Confidence breads confidence FFC need to use the confidence of there youth

We definately don't take enough shots from 50m out. We keep trying to spot up a target deep inside the 50, which inevitably becomes a turnover.

The benefit of doing this is as you pot a few the zone must push outwards to block the shot and gaps open in the forward 50
