... who thought we'd be 6th on the ladder (behind Essendon on percentage) after round 12?

Not getting ahead of ourselves Suzi, but that's just magic. As someone else said, it's great to be an Eagles supporter at the moment.

Hell Yeah!!

I never thought we would be in this position half way through the season. The game against Adelaide will be a crucial game...3 in a row and we would be 8 - 5!! Unheard of at the start of the year but its possible...will be a big game.

I for one didnt think we'd do any good this year! Ive been absolutely thrilled with the way the boys have applied themselves! Not once have I seen the boys give up when they were down!! Its been great..congratulations woosha!

I thought we'd be sitting bout 10th, maybe 8th if things fell our way. So to be sitting 6th is a pleasant surprise.

Anyone notice we're only 1 win off top4? If we can get a win against Adelaide it will leave us in the box seat to push not only for a top 8 spot, but an even higher spot. Especially since we still have away games against Geelong and Freo coming up, both of which are winnable.

7-12th position was my forecast so 6th is a bonus. However, the next few games are crucial. IMO we have got away with wins with very important players in Gardy and BB missing, to an extent we are lucky. Sydney were up by two goals near the end and so were Carlton. Had they held on then we would be 5-7 and counting ourselves out of finals contention. What percentage was Hunters 55m goal ?
So I believe we are strong when we can rotate Gardy to CHF and use Cox with him in tandem and by having BB as a key marking forward who will average more than two goals a game. We are therefore depenant upon getting these two guys back quickly if we are going to march on to finals footy.

I would have been happy with anything better than 2-10 so 7-5 is better than anything I hoped for. To be truthful I thought we'd probably have about 4 wins by now, 5 if we were lucky.

Yeah, im pretty surprised, i thought we'd be between 9-12 at the halfway mark

Full credit to the players for being in 6th halfway through the season :)

And to the coach...we cant forget Woosha...he's doing brilliantly well for a rookie coach. Remember that this team is the first he's coached as the senior coach so to me 7 and 5 halfway through is great because its not as if Woosha is an old experienced coach like MM or Sheedy or Pagan. He has found a way to bring the best out of the players.

no doubt Woosha has done miracles with a side that finished in the bottom 4 last year, but lets not forget that its the players on the field, not the coach

I had absolutely no idea where we would be.

I was sure that we would do better under Woosha and at least be competitive, but as to how many winning games that translated into - no idea.

I'm very pleased to be 7-5, especially as we now have a week off, which as a young side with some (relatively) old blokes, we really need. I expected us to have a downer at some point in the season, probably in the middle, and we should remember that we do have a hard run-in at the end (last 5 rounds or so).

So, all to play for (taking it one game at a time, of course)!

Yeah your right Iceman but Woosha has been able to get the best out of the players rather than KJ. We'll call it a joint effort okay? ;)

Next 3 weeks will be very interesting and crucial at the same time. Adelaide at Subi will be as tough as they come, there in fantastic from but then again our form at Subi suggests were a real chance. Geelong away is winnable and then i think we have Essendon at Subi, another real danger game, we could win all three or lose all three so with these tough games coming up im glad we are 2 games above .500!

In the thread "How good/bad are we ?" started by Mead back in March, this is the summary of my predictions:

Adelaide ........ Competitive but inconsistent
Brisbane ........ Favourites
Bulldogs ........ Dangerous but might struggle
Carlton ......... Below their potential
Collingwood ..... Below their potential
Eagles .......... Above their potential
Essendon ........ Below their potential
Fremantle ....... Would improve but might struggle
Geelong ......... Inconsistent
Hawthorn ........ Favourites
Kangaroos ....... Would make the eight
Melbourne ....... Struggle
Port Adelaide ... Favourites
Richmond ........ Favourites
St. Kilda ....... Struggle
Sydney .......... Inconsistent

Translation:

Favourites: Logically they were the teams I thought might win the flag.

Below their potential: Would play below their potential but would probably make the eight.

Would make the eight: I honestly thought the Kangas would play finals.

Competitive but inconsistent: Might or might not make the eight.

Inconsistent: Potential to make the eight but would probalby miss it.

Would improve but might struggle: I thought Freo would improve but wouldn't play finals.

Dangerous but might struggle: Well... the Dogs would be dangerous but wouldn't play finals.

Struggle: I believed these teams were candidates for the wooden spoon.

Above their potential: In our case I believed we would improve a lot and might even make the eight or even more than that. Now if you wonder who is the "nutcase" who voted the Eagles for a top four position in Mead's poll, it was ME! :D Well I remembered Melbourne the wooden spooner one year and grand finalist the next and though that might happen to the Eagles. Sometimes I just follow my beliefs not logic. :)

I just have to say I am pleasently surprised at our position. I predicted that we would finish outside the 8 this year, anywhere between 9th and 12th, and to say we are still a strong contention for the finals is a huge bonus for us, the players and the coach.

Well done West Coast

:)

A few anomalies aside, I have to say your prediction was one of the closest to home ones that were around.. Nice job. tell us, oh Guru Geonet, whose going to win the flag?

"... oh Guru Geonet, whose going to win the flag?"

I wish I was a Guru ! One powerball, I'm out of here:D

My favourites for the flag are still Brisbane and Port Adelaide which is not even a prediction because many people believe the same. About the Eagles prospects, in my opinion it all depends on our next game against Adelaide and if we beat them and then beat Geelong away, suddenly we may see ourselves in the top four and our confidence will skyrocket. From then on anything can happen. But if we lose we will be lucky if we make the eight. I'm confident we can beat Adelaide in Subiaco and surprise Geelong away because the hoodoo is gone !

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine we'd be 6th after 12 rounds. Have we even been out of the top 8 during the year? The whole attitude around the club has changed from the Judge era, and the players really seem to be enjoying their footy more and working together as a tight knit team.

It's not going to be easy though. We haven't been played to our best over the last month, so hopefully this break will freshen the players up... we've got 3 blockbusters in a row to go from Rounds 15-17 (Essendon, Freo, Collingwood).

Damn I'm proud to say I support the Eagles.
