Ok as most of us that played last year know of the sitout problem we had, especially with the freerolls. I will have to get in contact with Hansa to see what can be done, but from the top of my head these are the options.

Have rego open 1 hour prior to start
.

A few of you have said yes to this, a few of you have said no, it seems it would be the easiest way to stop the problem from happening, but also looks as it would hamper a few of the loyal players.

Have rego open 1 hour prior with late reg

I am unsure if Hansa has late reg, if it does, it would be for the first level only.

Persist as is

Personally I don't want to, and doubt anyone here does

If anyone else has suggestions, let me know.

For freerolls, remove the players that don't sit down by the end of the 1st level.

For paid tournaments, unfortunately I think it's probably a player's right to play as they choose, even if that means sitting out. They've paid for that right.

Didn't really have any problems with the paid tournies, generally everyone who paid, played. Is just when you get 100 people in a freeroll and 40 are sitouts is the big issue.

Is it not like full tilt where if you sit out you are just bypassed and dealt out and blinds taken off you in turn and are not dealt in till you click back in ?

i'm assusming it is but it's frustrating if half the field is on sit out because it makes playing very tedious.

probably best if you could arrange something with hansa were after the first level anyone who hadn't played a had is taken out of the tournament.

Well we will try, but I have never seen that on any hansa tournament so yeh, not sure if they do it at all.

Lol we do, it seems as it is still a problem, even with such a small field, looking at the info, I can probably see about 10 or so sitouts, got used to it last year so I can tell how many chips a sitout would have at what time.

Hopefully something can be done.

It's a joke. I arrived home about 20 minutes after the tourny started tonight but didn't sign up because I knew I might not make it.

I still can't understand how people think it's acceptable just to enter into the freeroll if you "might" be able to make it.

Definitely happy with opening 1 hour before, or removing those who haven't played a hand in the first level.

Removes all the fun out of it if you're sitting on a table with 4 real players and 6 sitouts. Even more frustrating if you bust out before them, especially if they're somehow headed for the money.

Mind you, last BF tourney I played in wasn't a freeroll - there ended up being 4 players, 3 places paid, $100 guarantee. Easiest $50 I ever made. :)

Another suggestion is to treat tourney sitouts like cash game sitouts. The one difference is that a tourney sitout has to be dealt cards. I find the main problem is the constant waiting. If a player has timed out once, all subsequent action should be auto-fold until they actually sit in the game.

But that does not address the problem of playing 3-handed with 7 sitouts. Move all the sitouts to the same tables so that the rest of the tables have 10 active players. Then remove the sitouts after the first level.

I played a freeroll recently where the entire table were sitting out (including me - I came late) except for one player. He was just raising every hand and taking down the blinds. Because everyone else was sitting out, he was "playing" about ten hands a minute. When I arrived, he had about ten times the starting stack - but unfortunately he was sitting on my right, meaning I was effectively playing heads up against a much bigger stack who had position on me for 8/9 hands. I didn't last too long :(
