Love his aggression & power, now he's holding on to his marks he's a beast.
Noticed at the kids clinic Monday he has tiny tattoos on his hands, look like initials down his fingers & a NO between index & thumb on I think his left hand. Anyone else seen these?
My parents took my kids to the clinic and said Charlie was amazing with them. My daughter (6) got very shy and he was very kind and patient

He was great with my 4 year old daughter at the Melbourne-based supporters day a few weeks ago too.

We traded 2015 pick 10 and 2016 second round pick.

We gave up pick 10 in 2015 that went to GC -> Melbourne -> GWS. GWS used it to match a bid on Jacob Hopper by GC (matching their pick 6 and moving their pick 10 up to 7).

Our 2016 second round pick ended up being traded back to us as part of our pick swaps and was 32 which was used on Atley.

So we technically traded Hopper for Dixon + Atley...

He was very popular & amicable. Kept his beautiful smile up the whole time.

Not really since Hopper was theoretically a Pick 7.. Carlton got Harry McKay with Pick 10.

TRADING Harley Bennell and Charlie Dixon in the off-season was a huge step forward for Gold Coast as a club, says veteran defender Nick Malceski.

The Suns had new standards and they weren't budging.

"We made a statement last year moving on Charlie and Harley," Malceski told AFL.com.au.

"I think that was a big step forward for the club."
lol. Almost as much spin as Gold Coast trying to convince their 3 supporters that titanium ankle Charlie would only play 10 games a season.

Shit, has he only played 100 games? I know he's had his injury issues but it feels like he's been around forever. I would've guessed at least 150.

Hopefully that means he still has room to improve as a footballer. It generally takes about 100 games for KPF's to really hit their straps.

As nice as that looks, you probably need to count the 2017 first rounder we gave out to get the Atley pick back

....but then you can count the other pick we got as well that we shuffled around to get Powell Pepper and a few other kids, which makes it look good again.

In: Dixon, Powell-Pepper, Marshall, Atley, Drew
"Out": Hopper, Florent, Hayward, Maibaum, 2016 pick 67 (traded to the Crows for Lyons and 4 pick downgrade, which, incidently, is a steal), 2017 First Rounder,

You'd take that any day of the week when laid out like that.

Yeah, give or take the Academy horsetrading bollocks and taking a guess at who we would've picked had we retained the natural pick, we probably forewent Aboriginal Academy graduate Wayne Milera, injury-slider Ryan Burton or elite medium defensive prospect, Tom Doedee.

I thought I recalled that Gold Coast were actually in discussions with Charlie to renew his contract and that all this talk of them taking a tough stance and moving him on only started after Charlie had told them he wanted to come to Port.
This article seems to suggest as much.

Also chuckled at the bit lamenting his lack of athleticism, saying he wouldn't have the tank to take a defender up the ground etc.

Charlie's fitness and form on and off the field since he came here says a lot about GCS in general I reckon.

Malcheski = Lyle Lanley
His promise to impart a dose of that famous Bludz culture to the Suns in exchange for a lucrative free agent deal = Monorail

At age 30 and with three knee recos under his belt, turns down Sydney's offer to accept the Suns' offer of 3 years @ $500,000.

Retires after just 2 due to his bung knees, having queefed out 34 patchy games for a 9-1-24 record.

Nah, totally showed the young Suns how to earn your keep.

Mate he was so good with shy little Wylde Jnr who was in awe.... Engaged with every single person who went up to him and even offered to hold the phone to take selfies with people.

He and Boaky were/are true gentlemen.

Yep :)

Yeah, I remember back when we were trying to get Charlie quite a few on the Suns board were pretty upset and in between the glass ankles and culture stuff they were saying what a nice bloke he was. Obviously the club had to keep spinning that he was the root of all their problems and would never play a full season in order to save face.

worth every penny. the improvements he's made after a second pre-season with the club, & understanding our structures better is immense. what a man, love you Charles. hope to see that celebration another 5 times on the weekend.

He probably lacks the skill and athleticism to ever be a genuine superstar but the intangible presence and on field leadership that he brings to our team is something that can't be measured in stats. Really happy for him that he's finally playing consistently good AFL football and even happier that it's at Port. Well done Big Dix :thumbsu:

Doesn't have the athleticism? Mate
