Heard there was a thing on the radio this evening about Brad Hardie complaining that he wasn't selected in Mick Malthouse's best 22.

Did anyone listen to it? All I know is that Hardie had a few choice words to say about Mick.

Hardie is a dick, never liked him. I agreed with Mick's 22 apart from missing Ben Cousins. Hardie is just a bitter old man who needs to keep himself on tap every now on then because apart from over here no one even knows who he is.

Hardie's very well know in Victoria, especially at the Bulldogs given he won the Brownlow there. He did have some valid criticisms of Mick's team and he should have been in that 22 given he won a Brownlow playing for Mick. Tony Evans should have been in the 22 ahead of Leon Davis which was also a fair criticism. He also rightfully pointed out that Mick tried to squeeze every last drop out of the Eagles list before he left and left it full of aging players which left Judge not a lot to work with.

Hardie can be a twat at times, but Mick can also be a prick and is no angel.

Hardie is an idiot.. regardless of what valid points he might have. I dont know wether he likes to play devils advocate or not but it seems everything he says makes him seem like he is gilted towards our club. (spelling)

His article in the west the other day had valid points about how we dont block enough for Kerr but then he has to go and tinge it with how Fremantle would be smiling at our ladder position and how we laud our premierships in there face. The closing point was something along the lines of how Geelong are going to give us a football lesson on the weekend.

Glenn J is very impressive on radio as well, works better on raido than on television for some reason, and its not his face or anything :)

Hardie said he wouldn't lose sleep over it, but compained about how Leon Davis was chosen before Tony Evans.

He said he wouldn't lose any sleep over himself not being selected but said he would have had Evans ahead of Davis. The other one he said was Hawkins should have been on a wing ahead of Mainy and again I agree there. As good as Mainy was for us, Hawkins was a deadset champ for the Scray

Narr, I see where I wrote it wrong.

Anyway, I hate Malthouse.

So do i. He is a right d***. And as other posters have pointed out he ran our list into the ground and then made off like a bandit back to Melbourne leaving a great deal of scorched earth behind him. Then he had the audacity to start a running public commentary bagging Ken Judge when the club inevitably fell from the top just as Judge tried to clean up Malthouse's mess. Malthouse wanted the WA public to be stupid enough blame Judge for it and not him. And many peope were and still are stupid enough to see things that way. Some of them post on here.

As for Hardie, i listen to sports central regularly and find him to be a fairly astute judge and commentator. I respect his opinion and respect the fact that unlike many footy media personalities he is avtually prepared to have an opinion and state it. And i don't find him to be anti-eagles at all. That is just a label that got put on him a long time ago that people can't see past. Perceptions tend to linger. Sometimes he plays up to it to create on air discussion which is necessary for radio ratings. He doesn't barrack for us but i never hear him barracking against us either any i think to him we are just one of 15 clubs other than the bulldogs who he obviously supports.

No one will win out of this. Hardie looks like a twat for whingeing and Malthouse looks like a twat for being personal and not even having Hardie in his second best 22.

Hardie v Clement is toss of the coin. Definitely should not be out of that second 22. That's ridiculous and an obviously case of Micj being spiteful and childish. If he was smarter he'd have put Hardie in the second 22. That would have still pissed Hardie off but he wouldn't have looked childish.

Anyone remember Hardie in those state games in the early 80s whilst he was playing for Souths?

Also:

Makes me laugh when the media all think Malthouse is the best man for Richmond. He's a very good coacher of men, but can't build a team. Had West Coast given to him on a platter, but at Bulldogs and Collingwood whilst he coached his pants off he never built a team capable of winning the big one.

He went straight into Collingwood and got results. That cost Collingwood a flag. He'd go into Richmond and get them firing from the get go. He'd turn Cotchin, Cousins, Deledio, Foley, Tambling into a formidible midfield. But around the ground he just wouldn't have the cattle. They'd fall short. That new guy down back has plenty of talent though.

I rekon Richmonds list is almost there anyway. With whatever pick they get in this draft coupled with the players you have mentioned and they also have that ruckman they picked up in last years draft who was impressive in the NAB Vickery. Morton, Riewoldt, Nahas ect.. mabye Mick will get another shot with a ready made group (of talent) for him.

Mabye Micks 22 had allot to do with players personalities as well?

That's the thing about Malthouse - give him a side that can win a flag and he'll win a flag. I reckon a top 5 pick for Richmond this year, and a top 7 next year and they'll be ready to go. The board would have to instruct him to play kids. Guys like Simmonds and Shulz need to be phased out.

Only Cousins and Hardie are the glaring ommissions. Hawkins stiff not to be on wing but Matera, mainy, Hawk all had to be there.

With our rebuild after this year pretty much complete and with Gold Coast raping next years draft; Do you think in keeping Judd and not having Masten, Kennedy and Notte, would our rebuild be anywhere near complete? I think we would still be having to rebuild during next year and the following years draft and have to settle on some left overs to rebuild our list.
I've been saying with the on set of the Gold Coast and West Sydney, the Judd deal was a blessing in disguise. I didn't know of the GC factors when the Judd deal was taking place though, but hindsight makes the deal look pretty sweet for us and the timing couldn't have been better.

Malthouse is a tosser for saying Buckley was the best captain he coached

not caring much about Woosha being a Dual premiership captain.

As for Hardie well he`s a Freo boy and it shows when he talks about the

eagles .

Listening to him speak - he said Buckley was just ahead. 2 great captains - he has dealt with them both - i guess Buckley's ability may have got him over the line.

Malthouse may be abrasive - but really are we going to compare the two?

600 games as a coach, premiership coach and player versus a has been who has run his own life into the ground and had to "lend out" his supposedly prized medal.
