theres rumours around that sam day wont go to the gold coast & if they select him he will opt to play basketball in the us............. will be intresting to see if gc are prepared touse a top 3 pick that may not turn up !
 
Didnt have a touch in the first quarter today, needs to lift on that performance to be considered a top 3 draft pick.

He's being tagged at the moment, which would be a great indicator to how quickly he will be able to play senior AFL football, where he will most likely be closely checked each week.

Shouldn't be a problem once he gets into the AFL system, he's really just waiting to debut.

We need him at Westcoast so bad, he's quick, plays direct football, kicking skills are impressive and he makes all the right moves.

Reminds me of Peter Matera, even more than S.Hill.

By the way, he won the Larke (sp?) Medal for the best player of the Championships, even though he had a poor game by his standards today.

I think his 6 goal performance the other day sewed up the medal even before today's games began.

Guaranteed no.1, 2 or 3 IMO.(All GC picks)

He won't slide mate, sorry, can't see it. He may be lazy, but as you said, that will be stamped out in the AFL and he'll be a damaging player who can play anywhere on the field.
 
All credit to Guthrie for shutting him donw, but he didn't have to go to extreem lengths to do so.

If he fulfills his potential, he'll receive a weekly tag. Has to work hard enough to breat them.
 
Bennell's first 3 performances were as good as anything produced at the U18 Carnival. The last 2, however, were pretty ordinary: he looked lazy (even if he wasn't) and he got tagged exceptionally well.
To me he didn't seem to be hangry enough, but I only saw the last 2 efforts. He has pace to burn and real skill. I'd say he would have to show something in the WAFL to keep a top 4 spot. Otherwise he could drop to the lower half of the top 10.
If that were the case, he'd be a bargain buy. He does have a lot going for him. But I'd really like to see him hungry for the ball.

That will help him. Maybe he wasn't 100 % for those last two games. Who knows?

When I think of guys like Bennell, I REALLY get irritated at the ABC. I so LOVED it when they showed every state's game. I recorded every one and greatly enjoyed them.
Now my only chances to see Bennell in the flesh have gone and he didn't bother the scorer.:(:confused::(
