Watch the replay of the first quarter against Adelaide.I know I'm in the minority, but I don't think he is all that clean, dependable, etc. His disposal is below average and often turns it over. That mistake in the goalsquare late that almost cost us a goal was just total lack of composure. He hasn't played mid since very early in the season, even when our mids were getting smashed.
I think he's a 5/10, but if we had a full side he'd be in last few picked in my view.

Finals experience too, GWS have a good finals track record. He is built for finals.
If it’s what usually happens with free agency then by definition it’s not expensive.I was skeptical before we signed him, however he has proved to be a good acquisition, despite being a bit more expensive then his market value ($850k vs $650k MV), however that is usually what happens with free agency.
Also, I think we will use his real value as a cool head once the older brigade like Pendles, Sidebottom and Howe retire.
I think he's an excellent defender and will remain there. I don't think he's got the tricks to release himself or others that we want in our mids. Josh is the one who has the midfield tools. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, please train him in the pre season as a mid and play him in the middle from round zero next year. That sort of toughness, defensive instinct and decision making is what we need when Pendles/Sidey decline and hang up the boots. We need to start building that chemistry with Nick asap. I would have done it this year.
He was a rock on Thursday night and has been all year. I reckon he even went up a level on ThursdayI think he's an excellent defender and will remain there. I don't think he's got the tricks to release himself or others that we want in our mids. Josh is the one who has the midfield tools.

He's been so good all year, we're lucky to have himHas all Season long
Reckon he will Poll Well in the Copeland
To me, we're all about getting cleaner breaks from congestion, which we do by having mids who are really hard to tackle and regularly either release themselves or others into the clear. I don't think that's Perryman, but I do think Josh can be programmed to play a Pendles style back of the pack sweeper role in a different way. The question is what we lose in terms of us current role.I’m not with you. Josh is excellent on the wing, excellent as a rebounding half back and then had a quarter and a half of phenomenal work in the middle against the Suns. My preference if he goes back in the middle would be to get his wing spot back. I think if we persisted he could develop as a strong inside mid but I don’t think it’s the right fit for us unless you take Nick out of there to spend more time as HB which I wouldn’t do. They’re just too similar, offensively minded, lightly framed, running patterns are the same. They’re not complementary the same way Rowell and Anderson are (ok they have played together since junior days), or even Atkins Smith and Holmes or Bont Liberatore Richards and both in the middle leaves us very exposed to bigger inside mids dominating (Long is finding a niche as a link player more than your pure first possession inside mids).
I’m on the lookout for our future best midfield mix and what we will lose from Pendles in a year is invaluable, but Pez can mitigate it. Smart, defensively minded, tough and can protect the back of the corridor much better than any of our other mids or wannabe mids on the list.
You can argue Pez can spend 2026 at HB but I see it as critical for us future to find people build chemistry in the middle with Nick, literally make or break of our list management strategy. Jordy back has been a welcome surprise but it would be negligent to think it will last considering his average games played in the past two seasons.
So tldr is I think Pez needs a chance to show what he can do with bigger responsibilities in the middle (commensurate with his pay packet) and my dream midfielder trio in 2028 is Nick-Rowell-Pez. I recognise I may have it wrong because there’s not enough evidence but it needs to be tested.

I thought one of the reasons he left GWS was to get more midfield time, hopefully that happens in 2026I would like him to play in the midfield for us next season.
That's a bit more diplomatic than saying I want to get out of GWS because Western Sydney is a shithole.I thought one of the reasons he left GWS was to get more midfield time, hopefully that happens in 2026
There's only 2 reasons. Western Sydney is a shithole and he wanted more money. Don't blame himI thought one of the reasons he left GWS was to get more midfield time, hopefully that happens in 2026
I heard nearly all of them live nowhere near it, and drive a big distance to training from one of the nicer suburbsThat's a bit more diplomatic than saying I want to get out of GWS because Western Sydney is a shithole.
No surprise, probably like the Geelong players who choose to live on the Surf Coast.I heard nearly all of them live nowhere near it, and drive a big distance to training from one of the nicer suburbs
