Was wondering about the fellas contract details.

With Egan, Scarlo, Harley and Milburn running around he will struggle to break into your defense when it's at full strength.
If his contract ends soon I'd love for the Hawks to have a dip at him.

We could use a talented young CHB/FBish type of guy :p

Im bloody impressed with him too!!!!! Love him!!!! Hes not a flash backman, very solid like Egan, does a job that hes asked, and thats it.

I think he will be coming of age at just the right time. With milburn and harley both getting older, in 2 or 3 years he will be perfect to come in and fill that roll. Given the odd unavoidable injuries, it's not hard to see him playing anywhere between 12-20 games per year really.

It really depends on wether he's content playing 12-20 games a year at best or if he wants to be garunteed a spot at CHB every week.

Has been just about the highlight of our season for me. Does things that just make me bloody impressed even for a more mature aged rookie. I would think he is in from now on even we do have other great backs. We should be able to shuffle things around. He seems pretty agile.

His body work is a bit lacking, probably just because he's wirey strong rather than buff strong right now but his closing speed, spoiling and kicking is good.

In 2 years time Hawthorn won't have a spare cent in their salary cap so its not worth investigating grabbing a KPP from any club really.

... unless you want to trade Franklin :thumbsu:

Took the words right out of my mouth. And we haven't even seen Harry play forward considering he played at both ends of the ground in the WAFL before we drafted him. Very handy indeed.

How good is his field kicking? He launched a couple in tonights game that pin pointed cat players in the corridore 50+ meters away. Love him.

Boy was I happy when we "stole" Scott D. Thompson from your feeder club in the draft.

Not so happy now I've seen Harry Taylor at work. Could he be a fullback at another club? We desperately need one.

I would classify Scarlett as wiry as well. Certainly not a big solid defender, just bloody strong, fast and smart.

I see the same potential in Harry.

Seems very mature for a first year player, Now I'm even more impressed with him. :thumbsu:

Thanks for that

The thing is, Milburn is at the very end of his career, and Egan may not ever get back to the level he was at, so keeping Haitch is an absolute must in case Milburn retires or Egan needs more surgery/retires.

I can see Milburn playing on for quite a while yet; similiar to Rob Harvey (although not as long.) He rarely gets injured, performs reasonably consistently week in, week out. Just doesn't look like the age thing is worrying him. However your right; essential to keep Taylor.

Taylor played as jack of all trades for a very weak East Fremantle Team. He can almost all position apart from small forward or Ruck.

Seeing as he's a first year player, and has played 8 of 10 games in the premiership side it looks like the Geelong coaches rate him pretty highly.

It shows how good the Geelong recruiters are that they can pull a guy at pick 17, after every other club has had their chance, who is good enough to walk straight into the starting line up of such a good side. Respect to Wells et al.

Agree that Harry has been one of the high points for Geelong this season.

I have no doubt that he was drafted as "insurance" for Egan just in case Ego had little impact this season; as it turns out it was a great move by Wells and co.

We'll have a vastly different backline in three years' time with probably Milburn and Harley gone and Scarlett in his last year or two. This is why it's vital to ensure that Harry T is a 100+ game player by then.

The Tom Hawkins thread is here. I have no idea what you are talking about (as usual) here with regards to Harry.

Agree Sim Dog. Harry isn't a passenger at all. He has courage and a touch of class about him. Is going to be a great 10 year player for the club.

Don't think he was drafted as insurance. It may have played a minor role in our decision making, however it wasn't the overriding factor.

If we were looking for insurance we could have drafted Scotty Thompson earlier. An insurance pick is never worth a first rounder.

Harry was the best player not to go to draft camp. He absolutely blitzed the state screening. A bit out from the draft, he was touted to be a late selection, however his bandwagon was pretty full on draft day.

Talk around was that he would not slip to our next pick. Geelong were obviously keen to get him and we went with out first round pick. Surprised a few, but not many around the AFL circles.

dog have a look at his game, he seems lost in games

just state it as it is, not blow hot air up every player
need to be objective, great recruit, but has room to improve,

club would have recruited thompson but was beaten to the punch by the kangas
