Not sure if this has been covered before, but was mightily impressed with Harry's debut. He looked very composed and comfortable playing CHB. No doubt being surrounded by quality experienced payers like Scarlett, Harley and Milburn would make anyone feel at ease.

Matty Egan, take your time recovering. No need to rush things.

Yeh the kid looks very good and he slipped into the side so nicely, you could mistake for Egan.

Yeah I think it's been mentioned but really, who couldn't help but be impressed? He was composed and confident, and his defensive spoils against a pretty competent opponent in Lloyd on a couple of occasions were beautifully timed and executed.

Slotted in very well.

He turns 22 during the year - one of the reasons he looks so comfortable - mature in body and attitude. Great pick up for us. Impressed us when we first saw him play.:thumbsu:

i Know this miTe not mean much, but I have been really impressed with him since we drafted him and i got my hands on some tapes of his highlights over in WA. His debut was fantastic and I today capped it off by becoming his sponsor for 2008. i am really excited. definate long term prospect.

Well done Mate !!!! :thumbsu:

Good to see people supporting the club and players :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Have been very impressed with H but hardly surprised. Shane Woewoedin (his captain coach last year) gave him a massive wrap at the end of the year stating that H had all the tools to become a very handy AFL player. That was after he came second or third is East Freo's B & F ahead of both Masten and Palmer who were both top ten picks.

What happens when Egan come back?? We certainly have some depth.

It might just be me (and I realise that Egan was the All-Australian CHB in '07) but down the track I can see Egan heading back to the FB position (where he made a name for himself in the VFL) and Taylor eventually takes over at CHB.

I don't think Taylor is physically big enough to take the power forwards that Egan regularly beats. I would have thought Taylor was recruited to ideally replaced Milburn/Harley when they retire but with an eye to him also playing as a key tall in the event we do not find a gun tall to replace Scarlett.

Taylor's 193cm compared to Egan 196cm - not a huge difference I would've thought, especially because he looks like he has arms like a chimp!

I know some of you blokes talked him up earlier this year after his preseason games, you were spot on. He's going to be a gun. He looks pretty quick too!

I guess in todays modern game too the CHF/FB are sort of one and the same. What I mean is you generally match a person up by the forward they mark sometimes rather than the position. Good example is the Dons where fletcher and mal rotate. We have been known to put Egan on guys that take him deep.

Seems to me like the positions in the modern game are becoming more and more blurred.

Agree with that. Not sure if he's gonna develop too much more physically to be a bona fide CHB/FB...
It certainly is weird to think about life after Scarlett though.
We certainly are spoiled having him down there...

Watched him closesly on the weekend from a neutral perspective.. Could have mistaken him for a 100+ games player at times, very composed.

How long do people think he will remain in the side for? Any chance he will play out half of the season or more?

A good chance. He'll play until Egan gets back I think, unless he looks like tiring in which case Lonners will most likely come in. Basically what he did last year with Tomahawk.

Mackie still has to return to the backline you saw on the weekend as well.

Not a bad situation to be in... Having a young player who looks as good as Taylor as a replacement for Egan

Taylor looks like he has played with this team for ages - his practice match form has been carried over into the two games he has played - he's fitted in well and seems to have all the time in the world to dispose of the ball.

Don't write him off when Egan gets ready - and remember we're going to need to find players of his calibre when Darren Milburn retires.

I thought he made a few mistakes against Melbourne but they looked like the sort of mistakes made when somebody's learning and improving - as opposed to when they are out of their depth
