From the back page of the worst today.

Nisbett on Eagles fans booing Headland and Farmer

'I don't think they'll be any different to the past'
'They've booed him (Farmer) every other time so whats the difference?'

Nisbett when asked if the club can control fan behaviour
'No, Our fans have to abide by the laws of the stadium but they are entitled to yell out. We can't sanitise the whole game. We've done enough of that on the field. Most of the crowd get right into it. A lot of players get booed.'

Hart on Freo fans booing Cousins
'I wouldn't like to see them boo him or get into him'
'Here the supporters are more circumspect when it comes to issues like this one'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

What do you think?. Is this just another article by the worst blowing comments made out of proportion to get Dockers fans on their high horse?
Is there a difference between Hart saying he hooped fans didn't boo Cousins(which he did say) and Hart saying to fans to not boo Cousins (which he didn't say)?

As far as I'm concerned with regards to fans booing players and especially Cousins, The supporters can say whetever they want to the players and theres nothing you can do about it. They are not going to ease up just because the president doesn't personally like it.

It's nonsense. The front page headline says Derby Countdown "Don't Boo Ben" Pleads Dockers Chief. Then the quote from Hart is "We will have a limited number of supporters because it is an eagles home game, but I wouldn't like to see them boo him or get into him". That doesn't sound like pleading to me.

And for those of you who have tickets, you better bloody boo him! I'm sick of getting dirty looks for being the only one who boos Polak, Simmonds, White, Clement etc.

I was actually very disturbed to read this but then I thought ,maybe it's reverse psychology and he really wants us to boo the mother lovin daylights outa ben kizons.Thats what I hope anyway because if not then asking us not to boo is just weak, but then I remembered it is the Worst Australian and along with the photo of Jeff taking out Ling v. hero boy with the ball, was a load of unreliable crap and I will go blind if I persist with reading it.

I doubt very much that the players worry about being boo'ed during a game, i'd say they would find it amusing to say the least, so get into them if you like, but i doubt it will make much differance to any player or how they perform.

I don't doubt you are right and Jeff feeds on booing it just seems every other club takes it in their stride and it only ever becomes an issue when it's against you. You can dish it out but.........

Boo Ben all you want, makes no differance to me, he might even feed off it, so boo away, i think he would have realised what was coming to him last weekend, didn't seem to affect his performance though and never seems to bother Jeff either, it just makes me laugh these people who think booing has a negative effect on any player.

realistically there'd only be about 3000- ish of freo suporters

can't imagine everyone would be a booing type
i only boo if something dirty happens on the field so wouldn't be booing cousins per se

so unless channel eagle & the worst have the magnifying speakers over our crowd ( which they just may to be able to run a story of the terrible feral freo mob)
can't imagine anyone would hear much anyway :p

Hart's a PR man. He's not going to have all the slime supporters boycott his stores by coming out and saying otherwise.

Hart doesn't have a share in those stores any more, he just gets paid for the advertising, so i doubt thats an issue.

I'm against booing a player if it gees them up (ie: the G-train), if it makes them play worse, then go for it.

Im surprised that Rick Hart even bothered to make comment on the booing...

Must be a slow news week for the The Worst ...

My mate & I were confronted by security in last derby, after being dobbed in by a weagle suppoter for telling Daniel Kerr to get off & have some more horse chaff. Basically told to can it or we were getting kicked out.

See that's bullshit, you were only having a bit of fun with it and that is just overkill, that supporter needs to get a sense of humour.

EXACTLY

Toast supporters are very precious

BOO them & there team at ANY opportunity.

I would BOO Cousins even if he hadn't had his troubles this year...he comes across as an arrogant little sh*t.

Kerr - DITTO

Agreed.

I loved boo'ing Reid was well.

Its part of being at the game, if you prefer the sanitised version stay at home.

sounds like security are closet eagles fans. At the saints game some guy behind me was yelling "its the rapist!" every time milne touched the ball and he didn't get kicked out.

What did you expect? You are in a public place yelling out this and probably obscenities. That'd get you kicked out of anywhere because its totally not needed.

You can't compare being at the footy to normal public situations. If you went anywhere dressed in weird colours and started cheering and/or booing at the top of your lungs you'd get kicked out too.

You're kidding me. No matter where it is, who cares if it is at the footy, the train station or the public library, its socially unacceptable and thats it.

I don't see what's so bad about what Plugga said. Fair enough if someone is continuously cursing like a drunken sailor in a brothel but there's nothing wrong with the odd swearword at the footy. I guarantee all the kids there hear and say worse to each other in the schoolyard every day.

And if you don't think that different social setting should have different tolerance for bad language then I don't know what kind of totalitarian world you're living in. When was the last time you saw someone kicked out of a pub, evicted off a building site or escorted off uni grounds for swearing at one of their friends? Does it really offend you that much if someone at the train station light heartedly tells their friend to f**k off?

Hell, you're even allowed to say shit on bigfooty and judging from the quality of much of the posting there's a lot of kids on here.

The other week actually. Some guy started swearing at the top of his voice so management came and threw him out.

I'm guessing you mean at a pub?

Well that just goes back to what I said about not being able to compare being at the footy to other social situations. Rock concerts and football are probably the only two places left in the world where you can really cut loose and scream and cheer to your hearts content. As long as people aren't hurting anybody then who cares?

Let's not sanitize footy crowds too much or we might end up with the equivalent of 8 eagles home games a week - cheering and clapping for goals with dead silence in between. (Besides the booing when Farmer gets the ball - but that couldn't be eagles fans could it? After their whinging on here about the treatment of Cousins and Judd they would never boo anybody surely?)

Mate, I go to a fair few crows games cause of free tickets... and I see many a supporter being warned and even threatened of kicking out by the coppers for swearing.

As for booing.. thats fine.. but I myself wouldn't boo. We each have our own opinions and thats just mine.

I'm guessing its more related to the game being more of a family environment these days...pubs and concerts aren't.

There are plenty of kids around hearing this awful abuse directed at their heroes and themes that should be foreign to them are discovered.

I have no issue with yelling abuse that's footy related but I think these days abusing someone for being a druggie, wife basher, rapist etc is inappropriate.
