If Hartlett's playing today he sure hasn't known about it by the looks of his facebook status :(.

A late change perhaps?

If only Hartlett would get the chances Wiggins, Fisher, Cloke and Russell have gotten...

It just appears that Adam Hartlett's future was decided before the start of the season. He would have probably been delisted last year but had an extra year on his contract.

The guy has been playing good consistent footy, he's a good kick, he's tall and has plenty of potential. He's relatively young for a tall player and has been unrewarded for good form.

What's wrong with him!?

What the hell is going on at Carlton? What ever happened to give a guy a decent run and see how they go? Let's face it, he's still young, hasn't ever had a good run with injuries (until now) and hence the opportunity to get fit, match fit and play consecutive games until this year. He's relatively untried and a key position player. He finally gets into the side, plays one ok game and gets dropped.

Why would we de-list Hartlett ahead of Wiggins, Hadley, Cloke, Bannister, Bentick, Hadley, Edwards and Fisher. Even Houlihan has no place on the list in a good Carlton side.

Why are we playing Fisher ahead of Hartlett? I am sure Hartlett could sit in the Forward pocket, not get a touch, chase poorly and miss goals as well as he does. Funny thing is Hartlett would probably actually get a touch and kick goals and contribute something. So far we have played (and put a lot of games into) Cloke, Wiggins and Fisher ahead of him who are only VFL standard and haven't even tried Hartlett as a forward.

I don't think, at this stage, that he's in our best 22 but if we are to gain depth we have to do it with players who can do a good job when they come in and with players who have the potential to improve. Most of the "depth" players we have used so far don't fit that criteria. He does.

We have one really good tall forward, Kreuzer's rucking, Waite's injured and the slow minded MC have finally realised Wiggins and Cloke can't play. How long are they going to take to realise Fisher's no good either! How many years ... We would be better off playing Hartlett and extending his contract than persisting with duds.

We have a MC who take bloody ages to see that players aren't good enough, who take too long to decide players need dropping to the VFL and who make questionable selection decisions. A MC who decide the fate of a player before the season? Really makes me worry if they are good enough to take us to the top level...

And that's what grinds my gears.

So far he's been back for 5 quarters and hasn't beat his opponent yet....makes sense to keep playing him. He has 3 quarters let in his career for mine.

he would have been better off not playing today. he is surely gone now...but there is a half of footy left.

This is what's worrying me, 2 more quarters for him to continue to cost us the game. We are honestly better off playing one man down. Bench Hartlett, send him back to the Bullants and move him on at the end of the year, not even worth keeping as a depth player. The only postitive I can think of for Hartlett is that he is a decent size. The negatives list is much bigger; he is slow, can't kick, can't mark, can't play in defense, can't play up forward, can't spoil, has the build of a 1st year player and he is COSTING US THE GAME! Ratten please bench him :mad::thumbsd::thumbsd:

i cant believe he is there...along with bentleigh and anderson....it is a worry!

Hartlett got an absolute bath today. Doesn't have the speed and smarts to go with a bloke on a lead. At least he got some kicks playing half forward late. I saw what I wanted to see, unless he can improve, and I am not sure he can, he might struggle to remain the depth player I thought he could be.

Perhaps 1 more go as a forward? Still I'd drop him after today.

Really disappointing game from Hartlett today. You would have thought this was a good opportunity for him to at least stake a claim for a spot in the 22, but sadly for him, I suggest that will be the last time we see Hartlett play for Carlton.

ok hartlett was abysmal in the 1st half. And made me look pretty stupid for defending him for the week (or trying, stupid red card)

but im surprised nobody has credited ratten/ hartlett in the 3rd quater, his efforts going as a 3rd man up in the ruck in boundary throw ins and ball ups actually made a big difference to the game, he actually did really well in the ruck, and technically, his ruck work was quite good, shame that he is wayyyyyyyyyy too small to ruck and we have our 3 shining lights in kruzer, warnock and hampster :)

its a shame, he has alot to give, and he has been cruelled by injuries, but hopefully we can offload him for maybe a 3rd or fourth round draft pick

i cant believe he is there...along with bentleigh and anderson....it is a worry!

What is with all these people taking digs at Anderson!?

He played very well again yesterday imo. It's because he doesn't do the extravigant things, moreso the basics. Sometimes you need those players too. :thumbsd:

Anderson was pretty good, i don't understand. Yeah Hartlett was pretty useful in the ruck and as a half forward playing up the ground late in the game.

Hartlett was completely out-matched by White, but even Bower had his troubles there. Adam was much better as a lead-up HF, which was a major problem for us in the first half. If Setanta doesn't come up this week, I'd play him at CHF (assuming Aussie doesn't star today).
