two good performances, two performances at a level of intensity where it needs to be all the time. were starting to work for each other. will it keep? will we continue to persevere? or will we fall in a heap? i really, really, really hope we perservere with our current game style. were kicking 20 goals a game with richo on the wing and intensity in our forward fifty has gone up tenfold. god let it stay.

They were definately two good performances and we should persevere with the structure. We will fall over in the mean time but it doesn't mean that we should stray from the course.

We're getting there, but no, not quite.

We've turned a corner and from here on I doubt we'll be 'easybeats' or a bottom-4 side, but we still have a way to go to match it with the top teams.

Next few weeks will tell us how far away we are.

western bulldogs are a top side we annihilated them but we lacked composure and came away with a draw nobody can say we didnt deserve the win, i believe we have turned a corner because richo is on the wing that is a massive move for a club that has relied on Richo in the forward line for the past 14 years, im confident that we can give a push for finals footy even though we may not last long but the past couple of performances are clear indicators of how threatening we can be. This week we are playing against a team who is clearly 2nd best in the league behind geelong at the present moment in time and we have nothing to lose, whose to say we cant cause the biggest upset of the season to date? :thumbsu:

I believe we turned the corner late last year , it's just with a young side we are bound to stumble at times. Also Terry's coaching in and team selection in Rounds 2 & 3 were pathetic. If the club stays focused in all assets and the hard work has been done over the off season we will fair very well this year.

Although Saturdays result was dissapointing in the end and know we'll probably finish 9th , it was a great lesson for all the boys that you can't try and ice a game 5 and a half minutes out against quality opposition and being the Richmond Football Club unfortunately every one is quality opposition.

If we slump again it will only give Bowden , Connors , Cotchin and Collins and a host more a chance to prove themselves and play some Firsts. The end result will be a positive for us long term.

I look at the Bulldogs game very much like the Hawthorn vs Kangas final from 2007. No, it wasn't a final, so the pressure wasn't as big, but the comparison I'm making is that we are a much younger side than the opposition and we choked under pressure. I reckon the diference was the level of pressure and desire from the opposition, so we came away with a draw, not a loss.

But it has been mentioned here already: the Bulldogs are one of the top sides of 2008. They should, on form, make the top 4 and we pushed them to a stalemate. How different to Round 1 2006 is that?

I don't believe in a "corner". Teams don't suddenly get better, they get better over time (or worse as the case may be), I still believe 2004 was rock bottom. 2007 was really bad, but I still believe 2007 was a stage of improvement. 2005 & 2006 were better because we had fewer injuries to senior players and Wallace had propped the team up with veteran picks (this, I believe, is the difference between the Hawks and us).

In 2008, our younger blokes are more experienced and having a much greater influence on games and fortunately we have a full list of older players. This is how we should be playing this year and it's bloody marvellous that we are.

I atually reckon the fact that 2007 forced us to play a lot of kids has made them more valuable this year, so in that way, the shocking season we had will make us a better side.

There will be a few "bumps" along the way. We must expect it with such a young developing side. IMO we will struggle against the big bodied sides like hawthorn and geelong and there may be a smacking for us in store in one of these games. Having said that, it does certainly appear as if our style of play has changed and the more games we get into the kids the better.

I just hope if we happen to get smashed either on sunday or to geelong that we can come back from that and continue to play how we are.

I don't think many people apart from Bulldogs supporters consider them to be on the same level as Geelong and Hawthorn.

Thats the point...It'll be an upset if we do. We need to get to the point where the players believe ( realistically) that those games are 50/50 or better and playing teams in the bottom 8 are considered percentage boosters.

We've got a way to go.

Remember that the bulk of our team is still young..Without looking, I'd say at least 2/3rds of our team was 21 and under...Those players will all be better next year..a bit faster, a bit stronger, a bit more endurance and a lot more experience..They'll be able to make space and use it and they'll have more confidence in themselves and their teammates because of it.

You probably go for Carlton and they with the Dees are the 2 worst teams by miles. :thumbsu:

Good to see your not embarassed with who you support...:o

We've improved out of sight, but we need to do it for the majority of the year to take anything away from it.

98% of most bulldog supporters dont consider our side to be at the level of geelong or hawthorn, but we're not exactly supposed to be sad at 4W 1D. At least i can accept what my club for what it is. It is ur idiotic bunch of morons who, after beating fremantle and drawing with the dogs, are going on about beating hawthorn this week, actually tipping and BETTING on the tigers this week, crapping on about what great value richo is for the brownlow, and talking up richard tambling like he's the next chris judd! Sadly these comments are actually found in ur very own tigers forum!

Tigers are not the worst team and will finish 8th-12th but be a little more realistic please. U are embarrassing urselves.

No, you're right. The Bulldogs don't have any delusional supporters.

There's no way we will change our winning formula. Richo will play on the wing for the next 5 years. Even he admits he has several years left :thumbsu:

The rest of the population that can read noticed that is why i said 98% - I admit that there are delusional bulldog fans out there as there are for every club - Key point here was being realistic and not getting carried away with 2 wins and 1 draw.

Um, are you implying that they are the 2nd BEST club?

You're right, that is understating things.

Richmond is THE BEST *CLUB*.

The team isn't the best *YET*.

98% of most bulldog supporters dont consider our side to be at the level of geelong or hawthorn,

You'll forgive our disbelief, but after the seemingly prevailing opinion last week that you'd beat us by 10 goals, only 2% delusional seems a little conservative.

Tigers are not the worst team and will finish 8th-12th but be a little more realistic please. U are embarrassing urselves.

8-12 is what I've been saying...some are more optimistic, some more negative, but if we go by 98% of Bulldogs supporters being 'reasonable', then surely only 1% of Tigers supporters are unreasonable in their expectations.
