Having to beg is a crying shame

My sentiments exactly. Everybody prospers that way. :thumbsu:

Princes Park makes the most sense, it is centrally located, it has parking and it has most of the infrastructure there already.

There is a definite market for a smaller venue, and I would give anything to see the look on Vlad and Collos face if a meeting between Pratt, Brayshaw, Stynes, Smorgan and Westaway was called.:thumbsu:

Indeed, sure, it's not up to the standard of the G or TD, but hell, it makes the likes of cararra look like a landfill site, I coulda sworn I heard somewhere that the AFL were hoping to get their hands on the lease of PP for a potential return there in the future because TD may become "too valuble" for AFL games, anyone else hear similar?

The Presidents of the smaller clubs would trip over themselves to sign that deal.
Well, they didn't when they had the chance. In fact they tripped over themselves to get out of playing there (the Dogs aside - they loved it).
How could the AFL deny any deal that makes the smaller clubs profitable? They'd be thrown out of office overnight.
Did the AFL become a democracy while I wasn't looking?

Hey, I'd love to see clubs playing interstaters at PP - it would be great for us and a lot better for some of the hosts. But it will never happen. Time to move on.

Simplify handout system: Richmond

Swann said Carlton received a Telstra Dome match return from its round-eight clash against Brisbane in front of 38,675 of just $26,700. "That's a long way short of Collingwood's guaranteed $200,000 whenever they play at Telstra Dome," Swann said.

It looks to me that Carlton have a similiar poor TD deal as North and the Bulldogs.

Carlton's break even at the dome is about the same as Essendon's from what I heard. I heard the deal was $1 less than Essendon's.

From what I understand, Carlton only need 17k or so at the dome to break even. We were making money from attendances like that at OO so I doubt we would have agreed to move to the dome if we weren't going to make money there.

I hate going to the dome and I hate playing home games there. I want the majority of Carlton home games at the MCG. I understand that we all have to play the odd home game at the Doom. I would be satistfied with an 8/3 MCG/Dome split in the next deal where we play interstate or lesser drawing Melbourne teams at the Doom.

Hmm, we have all been talking about our deal supposedly being even with Essendon. Collingwood are not tenants of the Dome but that is an outlandish discrepancy.

Exactly. It's shocking and it needs to get fixed, pronto.

Let's look at the math.

Brayshaw has disclosed that North needs to get 28k to Telstra Dome matches to break even and you are claiming Carlton only need 17K.

How does that explain a measly $26,700 profit for 21,675 attendees over and above 17K?

One interstate game on the Gold Coast would produce more profit than all Carltons annual TD revenue combined.

It doesn't add up.

I am just saying what I heard. I know Collo had a massive conflict of interest when moving Carlton to the dome but it doesn't make sense for him to lock Carlton into a financially unviable deal. I have looked long and hard to try to find anything about the stadium deal but there is not much out there. What I did find was there was a big incentive from the AFL for Carlton to move to the Dome but not the MCG. Carlton needed the money at the time and so it probably heavily influenced the situation. That won't happen next time we are making a stadium deal. Greg Swan has already said that we want to play more games at the MCG.

How much longer are we locked in to Telstra Dome. God, we stink there!:thumbsd:

Are we able to start any form of negotiations to get out of the shit hole.

I'm pretty sure we are still there for a little while longer. However, given that RP and Greg Swann are in charge, I would like to think that they would be able to negotiate a way out of that deal.

But you're right, we are terrible at the dome.
