One point I am trying to make from this post is that we have a different and better team than last year in the same match, considering that most changes are in the midfield.

2 wins 4 losses coming into round 7 against the Hawks at home and we won by three goals.

Players to get a game last year that probably won't play

Duffield (no chance)
Walker (gone)
Webster (extremely doubtful)
M Carr (likely starter - tagging roll)
McManas (extemely doubtful)
Campbell (maybe)
Gilmore (prob out for Warnock)
Black (inj
Haselby (inj)

IN :
Farmer
Warnock
Ibbotson
Palmer
Peake
Schammer

We still need another 3, who would you play? We need someone to tag Hodge, and Mitchell.

although you must take into account the hawks have progressed as well.

GTFO the freo board .... please! ;)

i think we will be VERY lucky to beat the hawks on saturday! lets hope we get to blood some young kids but!

What is it with these idiots
Even if we went into this game with the exact same team as the game vs collingwood.
We still wouldnt get flogged.
THey flogged melbourne just about everyones tip for last or 2nd last.
They have to travel an play away from melbourne, all victorian based teams struggle to win when they have to travel.

Buddy had his 1 good game now he will do nothing for atleast his next 2.

This game is turning out to be similar to last year's second Derby when nobody, and I mean nobody, gave us a chance against the Toast and we came out and hammered 'em. Seems a bit of a similar scenario, everybody righting us off and then we surprise. I think this might turn out the same, everyone will think we'll lose and we'll come out and win.
We beat the Toast with their home crowd as well, this week the Freo Faithful Feral ones will be calling for blood. Any blood too I reckon, Buddy's or if things go bad, Purple blood. Purple people are really starting to tire of lily liverred "old" docker teams.
Oh and I cannot see M Carr keeping his place.
We need to win in the midfield, not draw.

this week against freo is really hawthorns first contest. i wouldn't take too much notice of the hawthorn/melbourne game as it was a joke.

croad out is a massive loss. i think you guys need to start mcpharlin, tarrant and pavlich forward to exploit this. brown, gilham and murphy may not be big enough to hold them.

your midfield pace is a weakness but any midfield can look quick if they use the ball well. rhys palmer surely must come in. i can't believe he didn't play round one.

i am a hawks fan so i think we will win but there wont be a flogging as some posters have suggested.

this is unrelated but do you think tarrant is capable of holding down a key back position if he continues to perform poorly up forward. he is certainly athletic enough.

Tarrant should be played on a wing, and told to work and work hard.
Your right it won't be a cakewalk for either side !!
Who'll get the job on Pavlich, Campbell Brown ??????

Will be a very tough game, especially at subi.
Keep in mind though we have Hodge and Brown coming back, and maybe Williams. We have improved a lot since out last meeting.

We haven't got better, but those blokes will be a bit underdone too. That evens it up a bit, but Hodge is way too dangerous for us to let him rip. He'll be tagged, and hopefully he'll be a bit buggered on the big Subi ground.

I could be wrong, in fact I probably am... but from what I recall, MCarr usually tags Crawford.

With Crawf out, does this mean MCarr will have to line up for the Sharks?
How does the prospect of MCarr on Hodge sound?

Scary!

Sam Mitchell's probably his best match up if Matt Carr plays (and he probably will).

Let's hope the Hawks boys get a bit ahead of themselves after that big win. When we whipped the Pies by 112 in 2005, we went on to lose 6 of our next 7 games. Collingwood were sh*t, and they made us look good.

I reckon Josh Carr on Mitchell.

To be honest, I was just stirring the pot by suggesting MCarr should get a game this week. Should go back to the WAFL. But I wouldn't at all be surprised if it happened.

I reckon they should put farmer in the middle, he did some interesting things in the middle last game. At least he has some flare.

Gilmore out for Warnock? I thought Gilmore did well last game. He didn't even get any chance to ruck last game. Also he's a midfielder tho.

So do Freo.

what is hawthorn?

let's break it down shall we

haw = gay (ghey) (on predictive text)

thorn = is another name for a prick (pr!ck)

so put them together and whast do you get?

well that's my 2.2 cents

With Solomon out M Carr will certainly play, and I think the Hodge match-up is the right one. Dodd seems another possibility. Otherwise it could be a role for Webster IF he was to be considered.

Wlliams maybe underdone (i'd be surprised if he plays this week), but not Hodge or Brown. Both of them are coming back from suspension and have completed good pre-seasons. Hodge, in particular, had a fantastic NAB-cup campaign and could not be fitter and more ready to fire.
