He has had a broken fib in the past IIRC, wonder if it's the same one.

(Would seriously be getting his bone density measured and stacking up on the dairy. Think I read he has coeliac disease, which can impair the body's absorption of all sorts of goodies, including calcium.)

Bloody shame, as I love watching the dodger play :thumbsd:

Haven't heard that about Roger, are you sure you're not thinking of Scott Thornton?

Bloody shame and I hope it doesn't spell the end as Roger deserves to play finals. I'll have to watch the game again to see when it happened. I just watched The Winners and he is still running around with 6 minutes to go in the final quarter. It either happens after that or he has played on with the injury. Not that that's unusual for Roger who has also played out a game with a punctured lung. Tough as nails and smooth as silk, I hope we see him for at least one more year.

Again! FFS. You have also got to consider if he actually wants to play on himself, with all the injuries he's had over his career. Although even if he wants to I doubt the club would want an old, injury prone player:(. Heres hoping that he can go round one last time...

Career ending surely. He has been a good player for us over time and certainly a delight to watch in full flight but surely this is it for him.

I doubt either the club or Roger will want to go on next year. I like Roger and I like the way he plays but if he plays on for another year he is gonna cost a younger player a spot is going to be even more injury prone with another year behind him.

I hope it's not the same fibula he broke a few years back. Because that will not give Barlow a lot of confidence with his leg.

Just listened to Harvey interviewed on 6PR. Made no mention of Roger's leg being broken and seemed to suggest that "we would need to see how his leg is in the next 24 hours". If its broken and he's out for 6-7 weeks, why say that?

Maybe that was before he found out the extent of Hayden's injury.

Absolutely not. Scotty has Crohn's Disease.. entirely different.
I think I heard this on Docker TV where the guys were saying what foods they either didn't like or couldn't have. Please correct me if wrong.

In fact, I'll correct myself. It's Schammer who has gluten / Coeliac!!

Sounds as tho Rog's just ducked!

We'll do it for Roger !
The genius is the heart and soul of Freo!

Gotta go on another year :(
Absolute star never really got the recognition he deserves.

Used to stop his opponents on the lead an also provide plenty of rebound.
Despite not being quick always looked to have plenty of time an space.

Prob shouldnt go on another year but hes one of my faves an i dont want to see it end this way for him.

Poor rog, how many broken/fractured legs is that now?

Three by my count and a good handful of soft-tissue injuries to go with it.

One of my all time favourites and given where he's at it's time for some radical surgery ... let's get Schammers legs and attach them to Hayden's top half and watch the genius do his magic in some finals as he deserves.

Seriously though, this sucks big time. Can't underestimate what his poise does to that back-line even if he's lost a yard of pace. The guy is one of the most naturally gifted readers of the game that ever played AFL. If there is such a thing as a 'wise' footballer, then Roger would be it.

Yes he has Crohns but a slow healing broken leg forced his hand at retirement.

And yes, also Rog has had at least 2 broken legs before.

He's come back into the team so seamlessly, he is such a class act and could go on next year. Another ****ing broken leg for Roger and the club. ****

Before I give the whole **** **** **** ****..... You would have to think this is the end of the line for Hayden and for me it will be a "what could have been" So many injuries over the years... In the end his body couldn't hold up.

Such a shame as he was just a delight to watch....

Looked great in the side on the weekend.

You've got a point, with all the injuries I think the guy is at the stage now where he has to think of his long term health.

I'll always remember the ultimatum that Connolly? Gave him, essentially one game to prove he had a future at the club.

Hayden played in an era when Freo made you really nervous with ball in hand. When genius got it you could hear sighs of relief all over Subi because he was so darn reliable.
I really hope theres a player developmont role or similar for him. Must be huge respect for him at the club I have never met a supporter, opposition or otherwise say a bad word about our Roger.

Isn't it just a fracture? Everyones talking like he's had his leg chopped off.

Was thinking the same to be honest.

He's the same age as Grover, and we're not talking about Grover retiring next year.

Understandable if Roger has had the sh*ts with all the injuries, and finally decides to pictch it in. But I think it's pretty friggin unlikely that the coaches will want to get rid of him.

He's such a good reader of the play I'm sure Harvs will do everything he can to keep him in the team and handing his knowledge on, even if he's only able to play half of the games during the season.

Reckon he'll be back to play next year, and maybe a move into a coaching or development role in 2013.

What a season we are having. We get a player back from a 8+ week injury only to have a similar player go down to almost the identical length injury.

It's almost worth looking what players are going to come back throughout the year so we can work out who is going to get injured......

He'll go another year. His off-season this year will be completely different to the last. Given a solid pre-season, he'll be a solid contributor next year.

Class doesn't go away that easily..

While he's having surgery, replace all his leg bones with titanium ones and we'll get 3 more seasons from the genius, classy player, will impact our back 6 structure for sure. Suban will have to stand up in his position now
