Saw it last night - a decent basketball film. Could've done without the Denzel/prostitute story and focused more on the hoops, but I guess that's the way it is.

Anyway, I bring this up, because I found great humour at a certain point of the movie. When all the college/NBA basketball personalities are commenting or Ray Allen's character Jesus Shuttlesworth - we see coach at the time George Karl talking about how Shuttlesworth is a triple threat, a complete player etc.

Oh, the irony... :D :D

Still haven't seen it, but loved the title track from Public Enemy.

On the topic of basketball films, anyone else seen 'Love & Basketball'?

I enjoyed it. Haven't seen it anywhere in Australia, so i imported it on DVD from Canada.

It's not your normal bball film, moreso a drama, that merely centres around bball.

It's a bit of a love story, so unless you're a SNAG, you probably wouldn't enjoy it.

The basketball content is excellent. About 20 WNBA players appear, as well as Magic Johnson.

I think you should motivate yourself to see it P&P... it's worth the watch. Ray Allen is probably better than Denzel in his traditional 'black man against the odds' role, and you get to see T**ty. Thus, it satisfies the two elements of a good movie.

Ive seen both He Got Game and Love and Basketball and enjoyed both. Pity Omar Epps has to play for the Lakers in the NBA though in the latter of the two I mentioned.

I love Basketball movies though....anybody seen Hoosiers or the fantastic Hoop Dreams!

Jesus jod, never picked you as the type that would watch Love & Basketball.

Spot on.

I'd have grabbed it a while ago, just can't find it on DVD.

I too could not find it on DVD, so I cleaned out the cobwebs in my VCR and watched the mofo'in flick.

The dvd is out in R1 land. Can be preordered from dvdsoon.com very cheap ($10 cnd) but then they won't have it in stock until September. Amazon.ca have it for $22 cnd. Outside of that I haven't looked, but those are a start

you guys seen 'Eddie'?
Whoopi Goldberg, coaching the Knicks, Knicks players in it were Malik Sealy, Mark Jackson, Rick Fox, John Salley, Greg Ostertag, Dwayne Schnitzius. Plus other NBA teams with their rosters playing the Knicks. Excellent scene on the playground with Anthony Mason and Gary Payton too :D

Ill watch anything if it has basketball in it. It was an ok movie but the thing that annoys me about all basketball movies is the coreography (sp?) in the actual basketball scenes.

It just looks so fake. I cant explain it but if you see it you will no what I mean. Doesnt look anything like a real game.

I thought the choreography in Love & Basketball was excellent, bar for Omar Epps horrible jumper (hell, that jumper was almost as ugly as Woody Harrelson's in WMCJ).

for quality hoops choreography, i'd recommend 'teen wolf', and 'slam dunk ernest'...

:D

For combination of story and basketball coreography, Blue Chips is up there.

ah.. shaq at his finest... probably second to 'kazaam' and that one where he plays a robo-cop like hero... :P

yeh.. blue chips was ok...

my recommendation list:

hoosiers
hoop dreams
pistol: the birth of a legend
heaven is a playground

anyone see this one??
didnt realise ray allen is in another...

Harvard Man (2001)… Adrian Grenier, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Joey Lauren Adams, Eric Stoltz, Rebecca Gayheart, Gianni Russo, Ray Allen. A Boston College cheerleader, whose father is a Mafia boss, gets her Harvard point guard boyfriend in gambling trouble. Allen, a pro player, also appeared in He Got Game. Al Franken appears as himself.

Hmmm Ill keep an eye for that one, it's got eye candy with Adams, Gellar and Gayheart, an actual good actor with Stoltz and I wanna see if Ray can act. I saw him He Got Game but you cant tell if he can act from just one movie.

I heard Harvard Man is an absolute shocker, and shan't be touched with a ten foot pole.

Sounds like my kinda movie.

You might be thinking of Stealing Harvard, 'starring' Jason Lee and Tom Green. Awful, awful film. Didn't mind it, myself.

Obviously Green was the cause of the awfulness because Jason Lee is brilliant, yet to see him in a bad film.

Just turn the volume down when Joey Lauren Adams speaks.
