Who's the biggest of them all?

Seriously, is there another player in the AFL whose improvement can be seen game to game. I think not. Back in 2004 he was our 3rd best ruckman. Many were contemplating his worth to the team and whether his inclusion was warranted.

He as improved out of site, is now our number 1 ruckman. Is dominating the odd quarter here and there. Geelong 2005 (round 10) and Port Adelaide 2005 (round 22).

I'm looking forward to this season to watch him improve further. This is what i'm hoping to see lots of:

I dare say he wont have changed too much over the pre-season, but his growth will still happen on a game by game basis, and this season we will see a few very special performances from the big man. He has the potential to be the best ruckman the competition has ever seen. We need a decent ruck coach to ensure this happens.

The most agrevating aspect of his game is when we don't convert this special talent we have to clearances. We should be more consistent with our 50 point first quarters if we can get this right!

Might I also add that I very much look forward to him playing against Anthony Rocca again at some stage. He deserves a bit of a pay back!

Play to your strengths big fella and he may be special (in my best Bruce voice).

In all honesty needs to just dominate the h/outs and learn to run over a few of the smaller players in the AFL (ie everyone who is not him).

I love the big man.

Is this the same guy who was dropped last year????

PS you know that Peter Street is now the same height as Aaron.

Hair Size I think would be the determining factor that got Street to 211 cms. And I'd much rather Sandilands than any other ruckman in the league

Fair call. He's not the best ruckman in the league at the moment. Cox, Everitt and White are competing for that tag. I believe that White has fallen off the pace a little and the AA selection would suggest that Cox edged Everitt.

Of the rest i think Sandilands could move into that bracket this season or next. He is definately the closest of the remaining ruckman. The end of season 2005 saw him move from middle of the range ruckman to lead chaser of the top pack (mentioned above).

Given his age (18 months younger than Cox), its not surprising we hold high hopes for the man. 2 years ago Cox was playing second fiddle to Gardiner and many were calling for his trade saying he would never make it. 2 years is a long time in football.

Sandilands height, makes him difficult to combat at the centre bounce. Unfortunately he has poor skills and finds it difficult to read the play. More importantly he is terrible at ground level, and after the centre bounce or throw-in, is virtually useless. Freo dropped him on a couple of occasions, because they could not afford the rebound-cost of playing such a lumbering giant. A novelty if nothing else. :)

To dish out a good shirt front you need a low centre of gravity and good' ish pace. That is why blokes like Archer, Woosha, Pickett were soo good. They were not that tall. Its rare you see any players 190cm or over dish out shirtfronts, let alone ruckmen, let alone a 211cm ruckman.
