Wow I'm so surprised.

To be fair though I'd be pretty pissed if a Freo player went for that. Of course the really annoying thing is we know they would have.

The match day report against Port Adelaide's Nick Lower for making forceful contact from front-on against Fremantle's Brett Peake. It was the view of the panel that Lower approached the contest bent down and with his right hand down in an effort to gain control of the ball. Although Lower did make high contact with Peake, he had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball.

Do you have to be brain dead to be on the MRP?

****ers think it's open season on our players.
Peake was lined up, pure and simple.
Disgraceful

Exactly esti. Could you see Solly or Taz getting away with that?

I thought the new rule stated that simply going for the ball was not a sufficient excuse. Your first thought has to be to ensure you are not endangering someone's head. Your second is the ball. Obviously the AFL changed it this week but failed to let anyone know.

I'd like to see the next player cited (preferably not a Freo player) use the MRP's explanation for this one as their defence - that they had no other realistic option to contest the ball. Let's see if that gets them off.
