I thought I'd do a nooby thing and ask what people's biggest heart break games were with the crows..

I'll never forget that game against collingwood where we lost after the siren to a tarrant goal. Hart slipped over at a crucial moment and tarrant marked the ball uncontested :(

we went from such a high (hitting the lead from andrew mcleod point) to such a low with the tarrant goal after the siren.

further salt was rubbed into the wounds when the logies were hosted the sunday night and I think the president from the show 24 talked about the win with eddie...

anyone else got moments?

Essendon v Adelaide preliminary final in '93 and Nth Melbourne v Adelaide in '98 stand out for me.

Was at both of those games, and both matches we should have won comfortably only to be pipped at the post. (Weren't helped in the slightest by the men in white in either game mind you.)

Welcome, Cruel_world!

My worst heartbreaker was the loss to Collingwood in Round 6 1997 at Victoria Park. Crucified in so many ways - a shocking holding the ball against Ben Hart for the winning goal, David Pittman denied a clean mark 20 metres out directly in front in the last minute, and a Collingwood goal (Richard Osborne?) well after the siren in an early quarter.

Isn't it supposed to be Goodbye Cruel world?? :p

Heartbreaker for me was the John Harvey v Crows match at the MCG in 97 when Rehnny was pinged for holding the ball.

" Goodbye Cruel world"

actually the origin of my name is from a klinger song titled "hello cruel world"

so no, you are wrong :P :D

93 Prelim to the **cken bombers and the final against Carlton when they kicked themselves out of it, tasker could have made a hero of himself! and all those times in the mid 90's when the crows would lead all day in games in Melb and fall away in the last Qrt.

The 7 or 8 in a row matches we lost to port was a very dark period in my barracking years, it has been the source of much of my hatred for port, among a HOST of other things, but it certainly helped the hatred

Darren Jarman shedding a tear in the rain in the 2001 elimination final where we lost by 11 goals to Carlton.
An ordinary end to an extraordinary career.
I think I should start a 'favourite Fud moments' thread!

cheers mate.
my job's pretty boring so this forum is a welcome distraction.

for jack its got to be the 5 yrs gary was in charge. Mainly cause we'd almost always get a lead in the first quarter and then they'd work old gary’s only game plan out and it would be a matter of if we could hang on, rather than winning the game. Games against collingwood and port were very much like this. You'd get that sinking feeling... Pretty much the opposite to Blighty where you thought, we were a chance to come back almost all the time. Starting to be the same with NC, you can see we might just pinch a game here or there even though we probably shouldnt.

I was at that game and don't remember any rain. Other than that, yes it was a horrible day for us.

It was even worse for me, my fiancee was there with me who's a Collingwood fan.

As she jumped up and down for joy I began to wonder if this is how most cases of domestic violence occur.

Most losses are heart breakers i hope the geelong game this year does not come back to haunt us might be the difference between 3rd and 4th

Rnd 17 1999 Vs Western Bulldogs MCG

The famous day that Herbert spent the entire game on the bench to 'learn' how to play

3/4 time Crows looked home with a 40 pt lead, got killed in the ruck in the last 1/4 as Robran was shot but we had a nice and freash Herbert on the bench but didnt come on cause he was 'learning', Crows lost by 2 pts

Worst game Blighty ever coached with the AFC.

Was in a taxi to Norwood heading to a wine tasting thinking this game was in the bag. Saw the results on Sports Tonight in the pub later that night & assumed wrongly they had stuffed up yet again.

That was an absolute shocker by Blighty and we supporters at least deserve better than that.

We all learnt something that day - just how fine the line is between genius and madman, and how easily it can be crossed.

Also I agree with jackie and his comments re the Ayres era where game after game we'd go to a good lead and then spend the rest of the game crapping ourselves, hoping that we could hang on while the opposition swamped us having deciphered our one and only inflexible game-plan. Many heart-breakers in that bunch, such as Collingwood at AAMI and Melbourne at AAMI. :(

gary may have taken us to the finals in 01,02 and 03 but he was a terrible coach with hardly any respect from the supporters and he may have recruited "ya hentchels, ya mattners and ya ruttens" but he was a douche and always will be :D
