Just thought I'd pop in here to give you the wrap on Scotland.
He has had big wraps put on him by Collingwood supporters for great seasons in 2002 and 2003 despite limited game time.
He would of had alot of games where he played only around 3 quarters and still get 23 odd possesions. Due to Collingwood's midfield depth he has had very limited oppurtunities, he would be dropped if he had a poor game (which would be only because he spent only 1 quarter on the ground) and then be the best for Williamstown for the next few weeks only to see other players get promoted ahead of him. The moment he got a seniour game he would make a big statement. Many of us Pie fans on these boards have expressed our dislike of the way Malthouse treated Scotland. Perhaps Mick had a dislike of the style of game which Scotland would play, or perhaps his style clashed with our game plan, for instance he would run to the wrong positions, or run in other players space where he could be running in his own space.
His short kicking, long kick and hand skills are great. He moves beatifully and has good speed. He is a classy player. He gets the ball mainly by hanging the outside of the pack but can also get the odd hard ball.
Perhaps the only few gripes about Scotland is his one on one work, but this hasn't been exposed much as he doesn't get much attention as a player. He is a bit inflexable as the midfield is the only real option with Scotland, however I think he capable of filling a forward flank position or even half back flank.
I think Scotland is one of the players to watch in 2004. He will have way more oppurtunities but he will still be the 3rd or 4th line midfielder in the team (with Campo, Kouta and Stevens if you get him), which will mean he won't be tagged much which is perfect for him.
So watch out for him to establish himself as one of the leagues better midfielders. His manager has stated that he moved to Carlton "for more opportunities... he is looking to become one of the leagues best midfielders" which is a bit optimistic but it certainly isn't past him.
