Hopefully bucks is sacked and he can come back
Crisp, Moore, Maynard are all proven rebounding defenders and Noble and Quaynor have better output and are younger.
Why would we want a 35 year old Shaw who basically fell out of favour with the club because he and Bucks dont get along.

He has lost a lot of the kicking skill that he had; without that, he doesn’t have much going for him. Why GWS cut him loose. I don’t see what club would draft him. Rebounding defenders aren’t exactly rare.

Free to a good home!

Sadly, he obviously wanted to play on and stay in first grade. But it's time for the team to move on, and we couldn't commit to such a promise, nor find a compromise position.

He's been a brilliant servant of a young club, and all the very best to him. We'd welcome him back as a coach if he was minded, I suspect.

Definitely the right decision. He was great for us as a startup club but we have plenty of young players ready to take over.

I'm surprised he wants to play on...

He stiffly hobbles his way around the field (slowly) like he is 40+ and often jokes about how sore he is, how hard it is for him to get up for games, etc (I know he has an unusual gait anyway but it has been exaggerated lately).

Also posted some banter about being the #1 Shaw for games played and has a flag.

It feel like he has achieved what he wants to and his body has been telling him it is time.

He fell out with Bucks because Bucks’ game plan was crap.

Noble is ok but he’s no world beater and defensively suspect. I’d prefer Shaw who’s more comfortable deeper to allow Maynard to play a more attacking role.

Would love to see him at North Melbourne to support his brother , The presser after the games would be more entertaining than the games
That'd go against everything the club is signalling with asking other veterans to consider their options
