i have to do an assignment on Gandhi explaining why he was such an extraordinary man...i dont know anything about him...can anyone here help me??

He was very extraordinary! An extremely religuous man with almost supernatural magnetism. He was very frail due to the fact he didn't eat very much and also suffered bad breath. He used to walk everywhere barefoot and as a result had very hard feet.

In fact you could say he was a... 'super calloused fragile mystic plagued by halitosis'.

I can help, go to search & type in Ghandi.
I should imagine you will get more than you need from doing that, at least you will get a lot more than from here.;)

PS: notice the correct spelling, I just did a quick search & there is heaps of info on him, get busy.:D

If you go to any Video Library, or at your local library, you should ask for the Biography of his life. "Ghandhi" which was directed by Richard Attenborough and had Ben Kingsley in his Oscar winning role as Mahendras "Mahatma" Ghandhi.

This explains his life from when he was a lawyer in South Africa to his assaination by the hands of and Hindu extremist not long after India's independence from the UK and the partition between India and Pakistan.

An excellent movie, this should help you study about the life of this great man.

Vanders

He was a leg spinner for India in the '30s and '40's.
I never saw him play (naturally) but he apparently had a fearsome wrong'un.

He took 266 wickets at an average of 26.

Hope this helps!

Drank his own urine (swear to god its true from all reports ive ever read on the man) every morning. Why? I think it was religious/health reasons.

Also slept with nubile naked young women and kept totally abstinence in sex. Said he slept with them (women) as a means of strengthen his resistance to temptation.

Oh, he also found his calling for a stance against racism in South Africa when he first was practicing as a lawyer. Wanted to unite India and Pakistan as the one country and was one of the greatest men to ever grace the planet.

No wonder he was shot...... :(
