Not much anyone can say to help you other than the funniest speaches are those where it doesnt look like the bloke is trying to be funny. Just be natural and yourself.

PS. All that house capt shit is bs. Means nothing at all in the real world. Some people only live for that at school and they get no reward in the short or long term.

Our school captain was hilarious -she was enthusiastic about what she spoke about but made it funny at the same time. she wasnt the typical "popular" girl type and was kind of a nerd (even though i loved her!!) but she worked that to her advantage - she incorporate stupid things like her love of star wars into her speeches and then quotes from movies like that rather then other "inspirational" speakers. she made fun of herself and people trusted her for it - they didnt see her as stuck up like some school captain types can be

i guess my advice is just be yourself and if u wanna make jokes, make them about yourself, lol or really obscure things like movies and stuff

although i went to a girls school so i dont no how other types of schools would react to this sort of thing - lol star wars jokes could be a bad thing...

haha... I remember doing that.

The funniest always do best, I did pretty good however I wasn't a teachers pet (always late to school), so never got vice captain (was a prefect) even though I got the second most votes (had a look at the results when one of the teachers accidentally left it on her table ).

Anyway.. can't remember what I said. But someone I was competing against made a crack about how he'd punish all students with a strict hand etc (slapped his thigh for effect). It was incredibly funny because he was one of the slackest (and 'naughtiest' kids in school). He got polled well too, but I guess the teachers didn't care about democracy.

My school captain and house captains were both the opposite to what "Sear" said. Very to the point, not that funny. Good kids, but from my point of view they looked very arrogant and stuck up. They got a lot of respect because of that though.

If i was running i would say that i believe in equality. We must move forward and remove the oppressors. We must not become complacent and forget that the rise of Fasiscm (Crazy Teachers lol) may happen any time. Just incorporate stuff from history, and use historical figures like Josef Stalin and Adolf Hitler in your speech. It may not be funny, but i love the look on peoples faces when i say shit like that.

All about image for the school. I know back at my school the Vice Captain of the school got a hell of a lot louder cheer than the Captain got, when it was announced.

In my vote last year, the teachers votes are worth more than the students

so even though I may of gotten more votes than the captain, i was never gonna win cause my speech was inferior on the day.

But if i remember correctly, the captain made a few promises that havent been accomplished (return of the table tennis table)

But if you dont win, and get vice, its your oppurtunity to be the rouge one, the one that doesnt follow the rules. Ive kindly taken that approach this year.

When you get into the real world NO ONE wants to hear about your high school days? Put school house captain on your resume, or list the awards you got, and nobody will take your resume seriously.

Spare yourself the nerves, effort and stress and just pass on the whole house captain thing.

this is what a bloke did at my school back in the day. only the grade 10 students and the teachers got to vote bfore the school opened it up to the whole school the year later when i'd finishes thank god or i'd of never got on, we had a 10-1 voting system one being the highest of course.........anyhoo this bloke got up and told everyone to vote 4 for him (apparently his sister did the same thing when she got on a couple of years before), worked a treat everyone voted 4 and he got on.

I have always been of the belief that the smart,classy, private school types have a bad side and will lose it one day and they will indeed fulfill any sexual desire i may have.
