Ok. I have never been a massive fan of Basketball, but like all sport fans i am not a total nuffie about it.

I am going to the US in a months time. I am staying there for a few months with family friends and all, which should be fun.

But i've decided that i need a team to support in the NBA.

Now, like i have said, I'm not a total idiot, and i do know the teams and the players, but i want to have a team to support whilst i am over there.

So what i need you guys to help me out with is which team to support.

I know most of you will have your team that you like and support and all, but what i would really like to know is some of the other details. Like which team is the team everybody loves to hate etc.

That would be great if you could help me out guys. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

The best thing you can do is watch a couple of games and see which teams you like. I'd go Orlando they're an exciting team and doing well this season.

Portland are a pretty good newbie option - they're doing fairly well this season and look to have a big future.

Milwaukee's also an option due to Bogut.

Or you might want to support the local team (coverage, merchandise, etc), what area are you staying?

Minnesota.

You will have no problem whatsoever fronting up and getting a seat.

And you will be part of a very exclusive club.

Oklahoma City.

It's their first year too (well away from Seattle...), they have some good young guns like Durant, Green and Westbrook, they are struggling bad this year so noone can accuse you of being a bandwagoner, and they will have a very high draft pick this year probably so could be a force in the future. :thumbsu:

Well what area are your family and friends in? That should narrow down the best candidates pretty well.

On the other hand do you really need to pick a team now? I'd say it would be better to attend a few games and let the team pick you.

On the other, other hand (;)) you could get NBA 2K9 now, give it a few plays and find a team you like on there.

All reasonable alternatives imo.

If it's just a wild stab I'd suggest the Atlanta Hawks from the East or the Portland Trailblazers from the West.

Oklahoma would be good for some reward down the track but would be testing to watch with no strong allegiance.

play NBA 2k9 or other NBA video games... and pick a favourite player after playing with a few teams.

that's what i did :D

or u can always pick the team with the best jerseys, and that is Denver.

or the sexiest cheerleaders.

I started going for the cavs because Bone Thugs n Harmony are from Cleveland so i started liking everything Cleveland. Pretty stupid but it's better than jumping on the LeBron bandwagon. Is there an american state you kind of like? If so choose a team from there.

Surely this would be best decided by where you are going to be. You wanna be able to get to a few of their games and see what they are all about.

Otherwise the Nets are pretty cool due to DH/VC and Jay-Z.

I am staying in Pensacola, Florida. So i guess the closest to me would New Orleans, Atlanta and Orlando.

Thanks for all you tips and everything guys.

I guess i'll make a choice and then get back to you. :D

I go for Lakers.

But i find portland and Brandon Roy very likeable and 76ers because they have Andre iguodala and Thaddeus Young who are very exciting to watch.

BTW steer clear of Celtics :p

Well in that case your choice is a good one no matter which way you decide to go.

All three play entertaining basketball, have winning records, and have an elite all-star on their team.
