my friends and I want to all by shares in a greyhound (wether 100% of the shares are owned by us, we dont really mind).
I've looked up greyhound syndicates and seen a few pages, but im pretty lost.
obviously this is new to me, so can someone please give me some drections what to do.... im worried to email one of the websites with my story, as they'll prob just give us the worst dog ever, seeing as we're rookies.
cheers

There is a chap on this board offering a 5 or 10% share in a Surf Lorian pup........check it out under the heading of Greyhound Syndicate - shares available (Bulldogrob)

Good Luck

What are you looking for exactly franklin?

If you were to go outright on your own, well i certainly can give you some tips no problem. Pups can be bought for anywhere between $800-$5000+ depending on the dogs breeding, but when entering ownership you have to understand it is all a risk and don't be surprised if you don't get a return on your investment as a lot of dogs don't even make the track due to a number of circumstances. When you finally get a decent one it makes it all worthwhile as the feeling of watching your dog cross the finish line first in unbelievable.

After you have selected a dog you can send it to a rearing farm. These farms cost anywhere between $35-$50 per week, i know of a couple of good ones.

If you don't want to go it alone you can always join a syndicate but you will have to share prizemoney if you get a good one but you also get to share the costs involved.

As the bloods said i have 1 10% share available in a surf lorian pup going to the breakers in two weeks so you will not have much time to wait to see if he is any good. Also i could break it up to 2X 5% shares if needed.

Cheers

Im new to greyhound racing, but im very keen to get involved with it. I'd honestly have no idea where to start, and think it would be easier to just pay money to a third party (with a proven track record) who organised training, race entry etc. before trying to go solo with a pup.
The $4000 you mentioned, thats surely not per 10% owned??
Are there any companies you could reccomend that could accommodate my friends and I?
For a newbie, any tips on what type of dog to go after (pup/proven winner)?
thoughts appreciated

No mate the $4k would be if you owned it by yourself.

This would be for rearing, breaking in spelling, transport pretraining vet fees etc.

You could have a look at these two sites for starters

www.winningglory.com
www.agf.com.au
