Note: I have 18 trades left and $70,000 sitting in the bank.

Trades to date: Stephen Hill ---> Jared Petrenko
Andrew Raines ---> Shannon Hurn

Been averaging around 2000, with 2120 last week and a shocking 1870 this week.

I went into the season thinking I had picked a pretty good side, the only regret not having Ablett in my side, yet I made the conscious decision to go with 2 super strong ruckman instead, hence picking Cox and Hille. I also beleived Ablett's price would inevitable drop. Obviousl this han't happened and i am kicking myself.

While I still believe I have a strong side on paper too many of my premium stars have underperformed.

This will give you some idea when you look at soom poor average scores:

Fisher - 90.25
Hodge - 83.5

K Cornes - 93
Foley - 88.75
Vince - 80.50

Hille - 73.25 (WTF!)

Pavlich - 88.75
Franklin - 85
O'Keefe - 80.75
Didak 78.5 (WTF!)

3 issues stick out to me:

1) I need Gary Ablett - doesn't matter how expensive he is the guy is a guaranteed 260pts minimum as captain.

2) My defensive line needs an upgrade or 2 but this can wait so long as Hurn and Houlihan keep their averages in the high 80s.

3) One of Pavlich, O'Keefe, Didak has to go. Their price is dropping by the week. I am thinking to let O' Keefe go, not one score over 100 and just seems out of it. WIll probably bring in N Krakour to free up some more cash so I can make a play for Ablett in the next few weeks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you guys please help me out here before things really slip away from me.
Any criticism would be greatly appreciated, but try to remain constructive. What should be my next move? Who should I drop? Who should I pick up? Cash cows? Do I bide my team for the next few weeks and just sit on this team or should I start trading feverishly?

I am counting on your knowledge guys...thanks!

You hit the nail on the head in point 3. Trade okeefe or didak for krakouer and upgrade Foley or Cornes for Yablett (hopefully theres enough money there). Unfortunately SC depends massively on the team you pick pre-season. Epic fails in not picking ablett or krakouer hurt badly. The rest of your team will have to wait for now until your cows make more money and you can upgrade

Would probably trade Didak (injury concern too) out of the three you mentioned.

Pavlich will come good - he's not going horribly anyway.

O'Keefe played well in the 2nd half on the weekend. O'Loughlin and Hall to come back over the next two weeks - when that happens, I suspect he'll be back to his best.

I don't usually comment on other people's teams cos I don't think I'm really qualified but I'll try and offer a different perspective to Jack4814, not that there's anything wrong with his.

I share your pain with ROK and to have 3 under-performing forward guns is frustrating but you have to remember that forwards are the most inconsistent and their prices will fluctuate. While you're cracking it at your three dud guns, plenty of people will be hoping they drop a bit more so they can snap them up. This seems especially important this year cos there's very little depth in the forward rookies, whereas I see a lot in the mids.

Trading ROK down to Krak only gets you 145k plus the 70k you've already got. Not enough for Ablett. Instead you could trade one of your under-performing mids down to one of several mid-rookies sitting around 150k. That would give you at least 300k plus the 70. You could upgrade any of your other dud mids to Ablett and have maybe 100k left over to upgrade another mid or a defender. There's at least 4 mid rookies around 150-160k that are promising.

Anyway, that's just another option for you to think about. Good luck.

In my view the options are as follows in terms of getting gazza ablett...

Advise me as to what seems to be the best solution.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. O'Keefe ---> Krakouer
Robinson ---> Barham
Foley ---> Ablett

leaving a starting midfield of Ablett, Judd, Selwood, K Cornes, Vince, Rich

This option will however take me 2 weeks and prices may fluctuate.

2. Vince ---> Zaharakis/Beams/Moss/Hartlett/Picken
Foley---> Ablett

leaving a starting midfield of Ablett, Judd, Selwood, K Cornes, Rich and Zaharakis/Beams/Moss/Hartlett/Picken

3. K Cornes ---> Dangerfield, Ziebell, Petterd, Callan Ward
Vince ---> Ablett

leaving a starting midfield of Ablett, Judd, Selwood, Foley, Rich and Dangerfield/Ziebell/Petterd/Callan Ward
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personally I am leaning towards option 3 and taking Ziebell or Petterd with Ablett while dropping K Cornes and Vince.

Thoughts?
What do you guys think?

I like this option :thumbsu: - it means you swap midfielders around to get back to where you should have started - G Ablett in as one of your midfield premiums. You seem to have a lot of money tied up in there.

Leave your forwards as they should start to perform soon.

I don't think your team is that bad, it's just missing Ablett. You'd be over 2000 last week if you had him. Krak is a good pick for your team but not having him won't make or break you IMO. Not having Ablett will break you though.

ie, do your option 2 IMO. You'll end up with a very strong midfield and be back in the running pretty quickly I reckon. In fact, that midfield (if you get it) is very similar to mine!

Next week you could sack Didak and look at H-Mac and maybe Krakouer.

I agree leave you forwards alone..If you want Krak

I have Duddy (and geez I hate this guys arrogance, admittingly champion football) and he is under performing...he is basically in the side to negatve everyone....I made a conscious decision just to get Duddy knowing he will drop, because it will p1ss me off me if I didn't get him at the start and he ran a muck..

Concentrate on your backline man......My view is your 6 forwards should stay the same..if you want to upgrade someone then upgrade M.Brown.

Backline with 2 rookies starting is a concern.... Broughan coming back may help...

If you get ablett, it will be really hard to fix the overall team...

So you need to decide what is more important Ablett or a change to your team..you can't have both mate...

BUT LEAVE FORWARDS ALONE IF MY VIEW

1. Adcock (DEF) 96 - doing ok - no trade
2. Fisher (DEF) 59 - premium underperforming - no trade
3. Houlihan (DEF) 53 - 1st bad game - no trade
4. Hurn (DEF) 85 - doing ok - no trade
5. Hodge (DEF) 90 - premium underperforming - no trade
6. Petrenko (DEF) 59 - not yet peaked - no trade
7. Suban (DEF) (Resv) 55 - not yet peaked - no trade
8. Judd (MID) (Capt) 218 - doing well - no trade
9. Rich (MID) 84 - doing well - no trade
10. J Selwood (MID) 124 - doing ok - no trade
11. K Cornes (MID) 68 - underperforming premium - no trade
12. Foley (MID) 106 - breakout contender not breaking out, give it time - no trade
13. Vince (MID) 76 - breakout contender not breaking out, give it time - no trade
14. Cox (RUC) (VC) 102 - doing well - no trade
15. Hille (RUC) 64 - underperforming premium - no trade
16. Higgins (FWD) 109 - doing really well - no trade
17. Goodwin (FWD) 90 - doing ok - no trade
18. Pavlich (FWD) 92 - underperforming premium - no trade
19. Franklin (FWD) 77 - underperforming premium - no trade
20. O'Keefe (FWD) 95 - underperforming premium - no trade
21. Didak (FWD) 26 - underperforming premium - no trade
22. M Brown (FWD) 43 - not yet peaked - no trade

Don't trade.

You went into the year hoping GAJ would drop in value. He hasn't, move on. As good as he is; the distance you have to go to get him puts him out of question.

As for your backline I don't see any real problems except that you're running 2 rookies. But that will change in a few weeks when your rookies peak. Wait it out.

Why do you have to let go of one of your premium forwards? They are underperforming but you have to back them, it's not too smart to trade out premiums because they are underperforming. Why? Because you have to spend another trade to get back to a premium. That means you are spending 2 trades for the gain in value of the player you trade in. If that player is Krak the gain in value is probably 100k. 2 trades for 100k... I think it's obvious that's not smart.

The problem with your team is simply the structure you started with was wrong. Premium forwards tend to underperform early on in the season and also fluctuate more than premium defenders or mids. You want to trade in premium forwards throughout the year.
You started with too many premium forwards which meant sacrificing ultra-premium mids for breakout candidates and premium backs for value backs.

This has obviously backfired on you but the team is still good enough to rebound.
Back your team. Back your descisions. As you said, 'I still believe I have a strong side on paper'.

Bottom line: DON'T TRADE

I agree with Mark. Ablett has gone for the moment. Go without him until (if) he becomes viable.

You have 6 premium forwards that shouldnt be touched in my book. I wouldnt touch them unless there is a LTI.

Think you are in a good position to let your cash cows peak and when they do, then work on getting some more premiums in your back line.

Possibly after that I would look at getting Ablett. You'll miss some points in the meantime, but who knows, he might come down in price/get injured... He's not going to score 200 and have 46 possies every week

Trading a premium (Pav/ROK/Didak) for a non prem (Krak) doesnt seem like a good idea to me....
