Well after Saturday's loss to South Africa there has appeared to be some pretty major fallout, and I think the most notable has been the exile of Henjak from the Wallabies squad and this years tri-nations.
Henjak story
As well as Henjak there have been some minor punishments for Sailor, Tuqiri, and Dunning. While most recently Eddie Jones' axe has fallen on Mortlock, Elsom, and Baxter.
Ins/Outs
My question is, how does everyone else view this Wallaby reshuffle that is going on, and more specifically, how does everyone view the treatment of Henjak.
In terms of the change to the team, I reckon it is long overdue with many of those players. Not so much Rocky Elsom, but definitely Baxter and Mortlock. Those two should have been dropped for their erratic form long ago. Still, atleast Eddie has seen the light.
Obviously, this thread is about Henjak and his treatment more then team changes. Unfortunately we only get bits and pieces from the press about what happened at that nightclub, but if there had been a major problem with the Wallabies, would the manager of the club really have let them stay there that late and next morning report that they had no fault with the commotion? In my opinion, this is the Wallaby's management making up for past failings such as with Matt Rogers continual stupidity.
However, in light of the 33 -20 loss I guess that having four players stay out drinking till four in the morning is disgraceful. If they had their priorities straight then they could have burnt the candle at both ends. Instead the main two I'm going to focus on, Sailor and Tuqiri, had bloody awful games.
I'm not sure whether to be surprised or not with Sailor's actions. This guy has been a deadweight around the Wallaby squad's neck for too long. You'd think that he'd be able to get his priorities straight. He's been abysmal for the last two years in the yellow and green, has one good game a couple of weeks ago and suddenly thinks he's the greatest thing that ever happened to union again. If anyone should have been sent packing, it's this guy. I'm just glad he won't be appearing for the Force next year, condolences to Waratah supporters.
Now considering that Sailor is in poor form and a senior player for the squad, as is Tuqiri and too some extent Dunning, why is it that Henjak has caught the flak for this. I reckon it's a major injustice. Here is a 23 year old who I admit has had some past grievances, hanging around with three guys bordering of their thirties who should really be setting an example. Yet they get fined and two match suspensions suspended for two years? Come on!
It's plain bloody obvious that the Wallaby management has to make concessions for the loss, and Henjak became the sacrificial lamb. Poor bastard. This won't do future any favours, being known as the first Wallaby to be sent home in thirty years. If anyone should have copped this one in the neck, it should have been that sack of bricks Sailor.
What is everyone elses opinion on this?
