Health Hernia

Anyone had a hernia operation, how long are you potentially out of action for especially if you do a fair bit of lifting for work. I felt a pop near my rib cage last week at work and made a joke about doing something to my rib cartilage. Now I can actually feel a lump just below my bottom rib and it’s quite tender but not stopping me from working. Wife reckons it’s a hernia , putting of seeing a doc as my work can’t afford to be a person down at the moment. How long have people continued to work with a hernia before doing anything about it?

2 groin related hernias here.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a one size fits all when it comes to hernias. Some can be lived with for a long time, others end up needing more urgent attention. Also, in terms of recovery times I've heard some people taking months to recover while I was back to walking 4kms a day within a week relatively pain free.
Though lifting heavy objects is probably the one constant. You should refrain from that for a few months.
