Heroes IV

I've been playng Heroes III for years. Fantastic game, and very addictive. Recently I haven't had too much time to play computer games at all, but I was wondering if anyone here played Heroes IV of Might and Magic? It's been out for a while now, but I haven't had the chance to play it.

If anyone owns it, what are the pros/cons of the game? Is it better that Heroes III, or does it lack some of the qualities that defined Heroes III? I've read mixed reviews, but I'm looking for an opinion here.

my bf has that! he used to play those games 24/7 till our computer blew up YAY now he cant play it hahaha

Heroes 3 was absolutely fantastic. One of the best games I have ever played. In heroes 4 they've gone a bit far away from the concepts established in #3 and #2 (which was also awesome IMO). For starters, whereas in previous versions the hero could walk around monsters, in #4 if you get too close and the monsters are strong, they will attack you.
Another thing is that the hero can now also fight.
There are a host of other changes I cannot remember off the top of my head. All of them are essentially good ideas, but somehow they don't seem to come together well, and the game doesn't really live up to previous standards.
Habing said that, it is well worth it to get the demo and try it out. There is nothing fundamentally wrong and maybe i'm just being over critical, but the prequels were so good that #4 just does not measure up.
