not a massive metal fan myself (although do love a bit of tool ), but always recommend rateyourmusic.com as a great place to find new music. i've found insane amounts of music through here. music that i just can't imagine discovering any other way.

not everyone is going to have universal agreement (obviously) but it's a pretty good starting point
