Hey everyone! My name is Jake. I live in the state of Virginia, USA. I am 16 years old. I am considering moving to Australia, so I thought I should get into one of your sports. I watched a couple of Aussie Rules matches on tv here during the last season, and really enjoyed it. Here are some of my favorite things:

Food: Mexican
Bands: OASIS, Collective Soul, Hootie, Alice in Chains
Shows: Coupling(Br. Version),Seinfeld, Jay Leno, SNL
Other sports: English,Scottish,and Israeli soccer, baseball, hockey
Authors: Nick Hornby, John Grisham
Movies: Platoon, Three Kings, Clerks, many others

Enjoy your stay. Aussie Rules is definatly the Australian sport. Rugby owns most of Queensland and New South Wales (if you know where they are). They both have a side each but it isnt supported as much as the rugby over there.

I am a diehard Boston Red Sox fan. Im from Maine so its something I was born into. I just wish I hadn't been born into the most famous curse in American sports! So who are you a fan of? Please dont say the Yankees!

I dont know who I'll go for in the AFL. Maybe the Tigers. I will have to watch some more games on tv this season though of course(if they show some)

Err... new topic

Yankees fan for a long time. Not a very happy one at the moment since Pettitte left and they signed Sheffield - George seems to be up to his old crazy tricks

Though I do have a soft spot for the Pirates & Twins - does that make it any better

Not only did Pettitte leave, but Clemens turned around and signed for Houston! Your liking the Twins makes it better. I dont understand why a seemingly sane person would pull for the yanks! Its no fun when they win, because they win all the time!

Perfect reason why you should go for the Tigers.. they wont be doing that!

Look - im not going to lie to you but we wernt the best club in the 90's . The thing about Richmond is how passionate the supporters are. We are a middle of the range club, usually fighting for a position in the eight.

Just dont pick Collingwood, Essendon or Carlton.

Im actually seriously thinking about Richmond. I live right outside of Richmond, Virginia. So thats kinda cool. I just dont want to rush into anything just yet. I'm gonna take my time.

I deliberately didn't bring up the Rocket because I am still in shock over that one. Though I am looking forward to seeing Roger have to bat every game he plays - Rocket doesn't like holding a bat let alone swinging one (unless it is a broken bat but that's another story)

I believe that the Red Sox will be doing alot of winning this year - picking up Schilling is a big bonus for you guys. I am not a fan of his but he certainly is a fine, fine pitcher.

My freind is from Texas, and he is really excited. Wasnt it Houston who no hitted you guys?

I became a Schilling fan a couple years ago in the world series(against the yanks!). I obviously would rather have A-Rod, but not at the expense of Nomar.

I am not sure about the no-hitter against Houston.

The A-Rod deal falling through didn't surprise me to be honest. It is going to be really difficult (if not impossible) to move that contract - the majority of teams wouldn't be able to afford it and seeing the Commission has to improve it (?) I just cannot see it happening.

Brassmonkey, you've been led astray by these Tiger Fans.
Sadly they are an unfortunate lot, however their hearts are in the right places. But I must insist you barrack for the Essendon Bombers. Not only are we the most successful club in the AFL but we also actually win more than we lose (unlike the Tigers). Plus we have a commercial connection with Man Utd that you might find intriuging/worth your while. Not kidding there either.

If you do come to Australia, QLD certainly is a nice place to live, however the people there are a little......slow. Whatever you do don't talk to anyone there otherwise you're in for an hour long conversation everytime and that's just one sentence.
