Strictly one for the trivia buffs: anyone know what the highest jumper number that has ever been worn by a senior VFL/AFL player is?

The Eagles have just lost Ryan Turnbull (who wore 50), and some of us on the West Coast board were curious as to how many other clubs have had players with unusually high jumpers #s. I would be interested to see what the high numbers are for other clubs too...

Shaun Rehn is #52 at Hawthorn, and was at Adelaide too. Sam Mitchell played at Box Hill (Hawthorn's ressies) last year and wore #58, and I wish he kept it when he got drafted for Hawthorn, but he'll be saddling up in #28.

#52 is the highest that comes to my mindin AFL, though.

You wouldn't be a Jean Valjean fan by any chance? :)

Incidentally, a friend of mine wore #100 playing for Ivanhoe Amatuers one year. Stange, but tue.

HAHA!!! I think I saw him play a couple of times, cause Ivanhoe Park is just around the corner from my house, and it was pretty hard to forget a number like that!

I thought someone wore 65 in a league game, but I can't remember who.

I have a vague recollection of a Saints reserve player - Mountain I think - that wore No. 68.

In the 1980s, Alex Marcou at St Kilda and Craig Davis at Sydney both wore no 60.

Well I wore no #70 for Dookie United for a few games in the two's, and my cousin had the number #111 for Mernda, that's the highest I can remember.

Is there a high number that compares with number 44 for the quality of players that have worn it:

Platten, Madden J, Osborne, others who I've forgotten, but can anyone offer a better one?

Shane Kerrison. ;)

Nigel Lappin's fairly useful too.

Mr.R what was Mick 'smirkey' Dwyer (he of the 'lets deprive Roos of a Brownlow' fame) number? From memory that was in the fifties somewhere?

Witts btw was a great get. They (Woods) had a rover who wore 60 in a few games too, not that long ago. A pies fan should know.

Sommerville for the Dogs was 60 as well?

For some reason Faatui Ataata, Enrico Misso and the part blooded asian bloke that played a few games for the Woods in the eighties all seem to recall high numbers.....Either that or its way to late tonight and ive gotta stop watching old tapes while drinking cheap scotch....

Cheap vodka might be the go instead.. :)
