My cousin went to get a highmark membership today (online) and read that it's sold out. So he had to purchase a silver one. He's now on the waiting list. Congratulations to everyone who is a highmark member and everyone else who are members. Should be ripper of a season. :thumbsu:

How exactly is it a bandwagon if we're not even coming off a finals year?

Because a lot of people would have signed up on the basis of James Hird and Mark Thompson being back at the club.

That's not bandwagon.

Bandwagon would/will be us having a good next year and THEN people signing up.

I'd say it's more people showing support for Essendon doing something to get in the right direction.

Bandwagon: A popular trend that attracts growing support; "when they saw how things were going everybody jumped on the bandwagon"

Yep, it's a bandwagon.

Yep, it's a bandwagon.

But things haven't "gone" anywhere.

You will find a fair few people were members before knights, chose not to be while knights was there.. and chose to be members again once he was removed/replaced (including myself)

It has nothing to do with bandwagon.

While you of course, can just quote something in regards to bandwagon and try to apply it, it tends to be applied in a negative way and in a way which i don't think should/can be applied currently.

I went to the footy club, the day membership opened up, with intention of signing up for highmark. I was told then that I would only get in if people forfeited thier seats in high mark.

I find it staggering, that the club turns away higher paying members. The first couple of rows at ground level should be highmark swell, purely from a profitability point of view.

I made the decision to upgrade from a Bronze membership to a Highmark membership to sit next to a family member. He had told me that nobody had sat in the neighbouring seat for the last two or three years. The club were running the same line about relying on other members not renewing their seats for me to get in. However, I paid up my membership money and it now seems they have processed my request for an upgrade.

Seems like I have joined up just in the nick of time.

TT

Clubs limit membership of High Mark and their ilk , so that they dont snap up all the GF Tickets.

Couldn't give a stuff if there bandwagoners or not, they pay there money to the club and the club sees the benefits of that.

Can't imagine people would pay that much money to go to one or two games here and there.

Yaco, silver members are eligible for GF tickets too

This has been the case since at least 2000.

I was a silver number and managed to get tickets.

My original argument still stands - If we had 12,000 High mark members - who receive GF tickets - There are no other tickets for the other categories of members.

I'm sure the club wouldn't mind considering the huge profits it could gain.

Couldn't give a stuff if their bandwagoners or not, as long as they show up.

What happened to the good old days. I remember in the mid 90's a game against West Coast at the MCG and the place was PACKED.

Now we struggle to even fill the dome.....

So how do they know we've gone in the right direction without having "gone" anywhere? Exactly. It's perception which follows an anticipated popular trend which is associated with bandwagon supporters.

I expect that we will field strong sides for preseason cup, to give supporters hope and another membership flourish to be the result.

If we don't add another 5000 members, the footy club would be disappointed.

Go bombers

Any profits would more than likely be offset by the losses from people not renewing bronze m/ships if they know it gives them no chance to get a GF ticket.

If you're buying a Bronze membership in the hope you will get a GF ticket, your doing it wrong.

If you really want to see the GF, why would you be risking it via a Ballot.

People are saying "bandwagon" like it's a bad thing, who cares why people decide to join the club. The more the merrier. Let's get this club back to where it once was.

Because some people don't think we'll make the GF but if we do still want to have a chance to be there.

I'm a silver BTW and have been for years because I couldn't handle missing it, but I've no doubt devaluing the bronze membership would be a bad idea.

Whats the attraction of a High Mark membership compared to a Silver membership?

I'm a silver member and doubt I'll upgrade because it gives me what I want...a guaranteed GF ticket.
