Hijacked/Hacked

I know a person who's computer has been hacked/hijacked and They can not get on Internet Explorer to use the net. A message pops up each time they go on says you have been hijacked/hacked. They have called the internet company and couldn't do anything. All the other programs are fine. They also do not have an anti-virus. What do you suggest they should do? I thought if they install Firefox the problem would be solved. Thanks

It's too late for Firefox alone to make much of a difference, when it's that bad to that stage you've just got to back up all your important stuff like photo's and reformat the HD.

When its back up and running, make sure you install some sort of anti virus and anti spyware and use and update regularly.

Dayam, never heard of this problem before. Like others have said, install anti-virus and adaware/anti-spyware programs and get a hardware or software firewall.

Do as mentioned above and next time ditch IE and stick with the safest and the best firefox.

Mate, you should really contact crimestoppers. They deal with everything that is of a criminal nature.

Thanks, It got reformated and It got an anti virus plus there using Firefox. Thanks for the tips.

Eh. IMO if you're stupid enough to not have anti-virus/get these virus'. you deserve it.
