Was quite impressed with his first couple of games with the ressies but then he hardly appeared in the best players. Could be a handy player for us in the future though, as he is quite hard at it. Good luck to the kid.

Is it just Begley on the long term injury list? Why not Bode?

I would have thought he would be ahead of Nye and Andrews. No disrespect to Nye, but the last thing we needs is a another HB/BP player. Midfield, midfield, midfield.

As long as he is not given the #1 jumper.

Now that's certainly a suprise.

For someone who was very disappointing in the middle half of the year, he's done well to earn himself a promotion through hard work and imroved form in the last couple of weeks. :)

Though I very much doubt he will even get a game of course. Knights, VB, Ladhams, Stevens, etc are all light years of being selected ahead of him at this stage.

I doubt whether Ladhams is even in their thoughts!

Hinge's promotion would be an insurance measure given we have a few on the long term injury list. Surprised we haven't elevated the others too - just in case ... though I gather there is some cost involved.

Perhaps but given his performances in the SANFL (as well as his obvious talent) he's still ahead of Hinge for selection.

Kane, totally agree that it is a insurance method, and a good decison in my books. Let's just hope it doesn't actually get to that stage when we need him.

Second question first - probably finances Dave

First question: Hinge is probably the only player that could be called upon if required to covera forward /midfield injury. Nye is a backman which we have covered in spades.

Doesn't mean a lot though in terms of delistings - he's still just as strong a chance to be delisted.

Does that mean he gets a minimum 2 year contract? If it does, than we have the pleasure of Matt Smiths company for another year.
No, at the end of the year he goes back on the rookie list unless delisted.

what happened to the ppl saying that he was struggling>? I was under the impression that he was the worse of the rookies atm. It may just be a precaution, should everyone fall over, but you can hardly see him playing when others like knights cant get in
Or once again was it a decree by the AFC to maximise his gametime in the reserves??

No I tend to agree it's a precaution ;)

Not saying its the case here, but clubs are known to give young players games (some might say not deserved on form) to see how they react. Maybe the match committee wanted to give Hinge a boost and see his his attitude would change after the promotion. Maybe its his last hurrah and he is close to being delisted? Its rare clubs even promote rookies unless they know they will be needed that week, so it seems strange he would be promoted to only be backup. He could be promoted by a phone call the to AFL on a thursday night to play that week if need be.

Or, he could have trained and played very well over the past week. We may never know.

Not quite.

You can't promote rookies after round 18. If you want to play safe and promote a rookie just in case it has to be done by the friday of round 18.
