Hird and Hille right for Anzac Day

April 23, 2007 - 4:02PM

Essendon stars James Hird and David Hille have been cleared to play in Wednesday's big Anzac Day AFL clash against Collingwood at the MCG.
Hille suffered a chest injury in Saturday's win over St Kilda.
And the Bombers are monitoring 33-year-old Hird's recovery from Saturday's game, given the short break before Anzac Day.
But Essendon team manager David Calthorpe said both players would take their places in the team.
However, Jason Winderlich will miss the match with a hamstring strain, while Leroy Jetta, who injured his groin against the Saints, is also unlikely to play.

Great news on Hille and Hird.

I dont think there was too much doubt on Hird TBH. Glad to have hille fit as well, a vital cog in the side.

Shame about winders but not suprising either, and i doubt that leroy jetta will play, on the sunday footy show they said he would miss between 2-4 weeks.

Maybe room to bring in JJ or hislop, apparently he is a bit of a roughy for the game.

on bomber radio last night it was said that jetta's injury is very minor. if he doesn't play on wednesday he will definitely be fit for next week or even this week's vfl game.

as hille is right to play kepler won't come into the side. hopefully hislop or jj come in instead of bolts. but in saying that i don't think that they will

Don't believe a word heard or anything written about Essendon and injuries.

Wait until they run out, then you will find out the truth.

SEN reported this morning that Fletch was unlikely.

We should beat Collingwood no matter who is in or out.

Fletch did pull up pretty sore from the wack in the ribs that Kosi gave him. I guess we will see how feels on wednesday.
I love how the media are over dramatising the whole thing. Winderlich didnt play in our win on saturday anyway so despite it being better for us if he was in we showed we can cover him. Jetta would have been dropped anyway, and has had no impact at all in the last two weeks. Hille hasnt really been that effective this year anyway. The only big concern would be if Fletcher doesnt come up.
I also loved how CH 10 claimed the canceled todays skills session because of injury concerns. Funny thing is we havnt been having skills on Monday when the sides play saturday/sunday games. I could have told them last friday that today was only going to be swimming and rehab today.

I hope to god channel 7 were just being there usual inaccurate selves.

Bradley and Bolton into our best 22 on our biggest day in the home and away season?

Give Gumby a go!!!

Winders was striding out well on the tv tonight. Probably best if he feels right to be safe and miss one more.

If Fletcher has bruised ribs he will play. Did Kosi give him one after kicking the long goal.

Apparently so, someone i know who was at the game said it looked as much... but i couldn't tell from the TV. Didn't seem to get picked up by the match review panel.

Good news about Hille, but I still think Bolton will be coming in. I would much rather see JJ, Reimers, Hislop or Houli (in that order), but they wont recover due to the Bloody Fixture!!!!! It's a shame because Sheedy loves to use young guys in big games. This would be Ideal.

If Sheedy wanted any othe those guys to play he could have pulled them out, I'm guessing he's rewarding Bolton for his good early form, plenty of Anzac Day games for the other 3

Kpsi dished a few cheap shots, that one on fletch and a little elbow at Paddy's head when he was getting up..

interesting that humpty dumpty would try that on, although I'm sure he wouldn't with someone that would give it back to him...
