What problems will these two fix?

The fact these guys are at our club proves how pathetic we are. Our biggest problem is our tackling, inside 50's, or our pressure or the umpires. We one in these alls these fields today. It's the fact that we have a team of footballers who can't kick.

Thompson and Hislop are two more mature age rectruits to add to the "can't kick" basket.

White, Foley, Rance, Jackson, Cogs, Collins, Tuck, Schultz, Riewoldt etc all can't hit a target greater then 40m away. Even players like Bowden who normally have excellent skills were down today.

Tambling and Cuz were the only two players our there today who actually hit targets by foot consitantly

graham is a different case, he is a tall ruck. hislop and thomson and medium sized player who arent particularly skilled or fast. maybe thomson can come into the center and they can move foley outside to add a bit of speed.

yeah, they're probably entitled to get an extended run at it, as if there hasnt been a few free rides dished out already:confused:

I just don't see the point in not at least playing them for a few weeks now and see if they have anything. Otherwise they're another 2 list cloggers.

This clubs recruiting has been comical. Francis Jackson must be sacked too.

gee, i thought it had improved since he lobbed, remember, he's only had last 2 drafts....I tend ot think recycled players are directed from coaching dept...surely recruiters worth their salt would be focussed on using draft pix

And Gussy Graham who has proved me wrong by a long way. He's a good player. :)

I think we've found ourselves a ruckman boys. Being an old ruck, I watched him close live in Sydney and liked what I saw. Was further impressed on the weekend. He is definitely a plus for us.

No room for Simmonds as a ruckman anymore with Graham around. One thing I can't see Graham do is duck his head as Simmone did against Carlton rd 1.

Hislop - looking like a worse recruit than kingsley and billy nicholls combined. seriously, were there no 17-18 year olds anywhere in Australia that could play better than him. seriously.

Thomson - Havent seen him much. Just what i've seen on you tube, but thought he would add to the toughness inside kind of players we need. but if doesnt play at least 85% of the rest of the year then will be looked upon like i;m looking at hislop.

this has been the tigers problem over wallaces reign; recycled players that werent guns at their old club. just list cloggers. had he recruited more players like brown was at his peak, than ok, but guys like these are no better than untried 18yos at the moment.

in fact i wrote about terrible drafting of recycled players in a past post, so i wont repeat myself.

agreed, Hislop i don't rate looks slow and average not ready to give in on thommo yet as i havn't seen him play firsts doing ok at coburg though a lot better than hislop.

Thompson I thought was a fair pick up and should play this week bit I don't agree that we necessarily needed more 'inside/grunt' types.
The more the merrier perhaps but we have been good at clearances and stoppages for a while now... it's what we do with it when we have it that is crap.

Having picked up Thompson I have no idea why then Hislop was prefered over a youngster.

I do not subscribe to the theory that we needed a 'hard nut' who tackles well as IMO ALL PLAYERS SHOULD DO THIS and tackling is one of the 'easier' footy skills that you can coach into a team... just tell em to ****ing do it!!!!!!

Expect Hislop to be de-listed in Septemeber...

Boggles the mind as to why we picked up Thomson(22) and Hislop(20) who are basically the same player, hard nut with poor skills. Don't know if Coughlan, Tuck and one of these two will fit into the same team. Not forgetting we also picked up Nahas(21) and Gourdis (20).

Richmond are the definiton of topping up. Should of just got a bunch of 18 year old's, this draft is looking very very strong so far. :thumbsd:

Disagree to a point their barnzy...
Would not say this is such a bad idea, as both players are only young and fit into the age group of the majority of our players.
However, one of them would have been sufficient, the other should have been a kid..

I imagine when both of these boys were selected...cuzz was not on the radar and massive questions loomed over Cogs ability to play senior footy...so there was some sense in adding a couple of decent size mids to our fleet of GF sprinters...I wouldnt be writing them off just yet, i look forward to a new broom extending opportunities to the likes of Hislop at the expense of edwards or even Jon:thumbsu:

These two poor boys would be thinking ..."WTF have we walked into here"

Its amazing how poor morale and confidence can affect a player .. let alone two kids trying to make a second start .

This is why Wallace has to be removed sooner rather than later ... i`m a huge believer in how quickly things can turnaround by getting rid of an incumbant and making the correct appointment to replace them . You only have to look at how Wallace started before NB snapped his leg in half .. the trick is to maintain that momentum

A lot of our list will become "recruits" ... Conners etc... throw in these two as well .

Why the hell were they recruited??? Bring em in FFS. Out edwards and JON this week.

Yeah agree ......... round 2 + 3 picks for these two guys...

Not sure why we picked them up if they are not playing ( unless they are injured , which i dont think they are )

Seems like another poor decision at draft time .... but hey whats new.

Not sure the who goes 'OUT' but surely that is not a hard choice , not many guys are playing well.

hopefully we give thomson a game this week. see if he does belong and has a spot in the team, but still i would like to see a few get a game before him.

From what I have seen in the vfl and afl in both, they cant kick and skills are below par so you tell me what they bring to our footy side or if they are any better then what we got ???.Its a classic example of TW and the footy departments bad judgement and waste of picks.

both should be in the middle of packs feeding the ball out to our better kicks. play hislop in the middle. thats his best position and i dont think he will get a game now in the forward line.
