This is the first time Ive played a Hitman game and really loving it.

A couple of questions.

1. This game is designed for replayability, right? For instance there are 36 challenges for the 1st open mission. It's impossible to do all those in one hit so the incentive is there for people to replay missions and find new ways to kill targets??

2.This is less a narrative driven game, and more a series of individual missions. Kind of like Batman's 'Combat Challenges'. The similarity being that you get to the end of a stage, but keep trying to beat the score you set in getting there. Fair comparison?
1. Yes.

2. Yes.

Although Batman took the idea off Hitman. Also, this is far more story driven than any other Hitman, the previous games were more about 'here's a target, go find a way to kill them' very rarely was there any sort of link from target to target.

If you love this one, then you should definitely look at getting the HD collection. If only for Contracts and Blood Money (I rate Contracts ahead of Blood Money).

Only played two levels , brilliant brilliant game . Love how its set up to make you want to replay the level to better your score.

I finally started this game that I bought on release, just yesterday. Have played only past the King of China Town level.

Just wondering how do you do some of those other challenge deaths? And how to do them without getting spotted?

For instance....

pushing him down that open man-hole, you immediately have a million cops on you. I managed to do the sniper out of the window too, but again you're literally surrounded by billions of cops and swat trying to get away from the upstairs apartment, even if you change disguise to something else they hadnt seen you in before, they still know and you die. how do you poison the drugs? couldn't find various other methods for that level either. the only one i managed to do very well without even getting spotted, was exploding the car method.

Also for the opening levels...

how do you do the picture frame death in the level where youre looking for the keycard? or the piano death seeing as you immediately draw attention to yourself and get killed? also why is it you get deducted 4,000 pts for killing the guy with the keycard, told 'non-objective death' when it is part of the objective.

I've only got an answer for this bit as I didn't do any of the others.

But you don't have to kill that guy.

I wondered how you're supposed to do a lot of stuff without being spotted, but I think it all comes down to just using every tool you have. Distract as many people as possible to get them away from the area, then do your business.

With those challenges and whatnot (just done the first level) do you have to do all of them in one go, for example Chameleon do you have to use all 4 disguises in one play through the level?

No, you can get them in any subsequent playthrough and they'll stack.

I've had quite a few goes of that level, and there are plenty of options for ways to kill him, i managed to find a way for a simple silent assassin rating.

Walk straight to the exit and hide out of view from the police in the little chain link fence area and pick up the brick. After a minute or two the king will walk to the far end of the alley for a piss and the cops should start to leave, throw the brick underneath the crane holding the slat of bricks, when he walks over, pull out your silenced silverballer and shoot the support, the pallet comes toppling down, hide the gun and calmly walk to the exit. No suspicion. No problems. Also you can get the poison from the Fugu fish at one of the stalls. Happy hunting.

This is the way I did it, hid in the dumpster right next to where the counter to the shop is and watched him eat it and convulse to his death.

I haven't poisoned the food yet how did you go about doing it without raising suspicion, i know there is a cop always there (a little further away) and a chef, does he turn his back at one point where you can administer the poison undetected??

ps its not really spoilers more a discussion of ways to go about your killings, better safe than sorry though I guess.

Had an exclamation point jump across the screen during play laughing and then dying in a pool of blood , anybody know what it means ?

Just finished this, really fun game, although I'm pretty terrible at it and had to resort to killing everyone with a shotgun and then piss bolting to get out of some situations, still loads of fun though. Even if I was playing on normal mode.

I went through and played the King of Chinatown mission again on Purist and managed to get Silent Assassin - probably the only level I'll be capable of doing so.

Is it just me or are the missions in 'contracts' mode ridiculously hard?

:D

Lack of Ave Maria for the trailer disappoints me. But I shall be purchasing, my love for the previous Hitman's means I need to go through them again.

Must say though the HD Upgrade doesn't look to be all that special. I've been playing the God of War HD Collection through and that thing looks just about next-gen in almost everything outside the cutscenes (which are horribly low res). Some of these games are later than the God of War's with Blood Money even being a 360 game and it doesn't really look that good.

Turned me off to be honest.

Done 25% of the levels but a couple of things are really preventing me from enjoying the game.

The main one is that it is designed to replayed over and over to get the full experience of the kills. Once I get through a level Im done. Who has time to play through a level 2-3 times to experience all the cool stuff. And Im not talking about cheevies.

For instance I just completed a level by doing a couple of awesome kills. Looked at the challenge list and there are plenty more that I wont have time to do.

A compromoise would have been to allow us to re-play stages but re-playing the entire level is the only option

Hitman 2, Contracts and Blood Money were my Favorite. Hitman: Absolution moved away from what I enjoyed the most. Freedom....Lots of it.

Pretty sure you can replay stages? From the level select it opens up further with the stages? That's how I rushed through and got all the pieces of evidence afterwards.

Most frustrating game Ive ever played.

Trial and error that doesnt rely on skill.

Inconsistent (Dispatched 2 targets silently with nobody seeing me, walk out on to the street and all of a sudden cops recognise me on sight...WTF).

Too long between check points. While setting up a kill for 15 minutes is a great change of pace, some finnicky inconsistent bull shit sends you all the way back. Im at the age with playing this type of game simply isnt possible.

Gave it one last chance and its now been cast into 20 pieces tp prevent me from being lured back in.

I recently got this game cheap and I love it. I'm only about 4 or 5 missions in (I'm up to the Orphanage). I'm mostly stealthy but I do have my Rambo moments when I can't be stuffed being patient. Don't care when I lose points for killing innocents or whatever, just having heaps of fun. Love replaying levels to see how I can do them differently. 9/10 so far.
