Im thought the umps really tried hard to f**k us mid game today....
Am I just being paranoid or did anyone else notice how some recently "red hot" frees were let go for the wole third quarter?

I hate not being able to enjoy the win as much as i should because i've had lingering rage over the umps. It happened against st kilda, and today. I just can't take it anymore. The decisions that shift the game's momentum. It just drains me.

At one end of the field a player is ridden into the ground and he is immediately pinged for holding the ball.
At the other a player is wrapped up, and is allowed to hold onto the ball for 1 and 1/2 revolutions dispose of it illegally(one handed) and a goal results.
Rocca stopped Go Go Gadget who played on, hand balling and he presto 50 meters (the longest I've seen for quite some time) and another goal.

It's good thing we live in civilized society cause them umps would be in big trouble if we were Inca.

The umpires weren't as bad as they have been but were still pretty poor and inconsistant. They continued to allow Essendon players to tackle into our backs even when we didn't have the ball.
How many times were players pulled off the footy when they didn't have it? Still, only themselves to blame in the 3rd quarter.

How many times did we get pinned for holding the ball when we didn't have any prior opportunity? They are (the umpires) scared of bouncing the ball, I know they are told to keep the game moving but we shouldn't discount the bloke going for the ball. We should write a letter to the AFL in regards to this rule, or how it has been interpreted this year - I am interested to see Andrew Demetriou's response.

The umps i thought let a lot of things go yesterday, compared to most weeks when the penalise players but a lot of the Essendon players got away with dropping the ball, throwing the ball, and incorrect disposal alot of the time. The Lucas decision in the 3rd quarter was just a DISCRACE when he got caught. He was allowed all the time in the world to get rid of the pill...

The dragging the ball in rule, whilst good in principle, is too easily policed so as to bring the opposition into the game.

They dragged the ball in at least as much as us, had no opportunity to get rid of it and rarely got pinged.

It is also the tackler who drags the ball in, knowing that they have a fair chance of confusing an umpire, especially when the game's a bit of a blow out, which yesterday was for a while and these decisions went their way without fail.

Normally speaking I just hate badly umpired games and thats the end of it.

However of all the games this year I have to say that Essendon one felt like the umpires were going out of their way to try end help Essendon.
Not as bad as the decisions with St Kilda which in my opinion was just bad umpiring.
Rather the umpiring against Essendon smacked of malicious intent. Situations where the decisions could have reasonably gone either way always fell in favour of Essendon.
Situations where Essendon players were doing they wrong thing they were allowed a lot of leniancy.
The only time the Umps went against Essendon was when it was so obvious it couldn't be ignored.
All those 50/50 situations where it could have fallen lots of ways they always favoured Essendon.

Felt very malicious whereas the St Kilda game was just plain bad. Essendon game had calculation and forethought.

There were situations where we tackled them and they dropped the ball like when cloke tackled lovett and he dropped it and when heath shaw tackled paddy ryder and he also dropped and in the end they got a goal out of it. But when were tackled we got pined for holding the ball. The umpires have to be consistent.

Paranoid much? What possible motive would the AFL umpires have in conspiring against Collingwood? Guys, don't let a few dodgy umpiring desicions ruin a game for you. If my team just beat our arch rivals convincingly - that'd be the last thing on my mind. I really felt for some of the Collingwood fans around me - 5 goals up late in the last quarter, and they STILL couldn't enjoy the victory.

When I said "the umps tried their best to f**k us" I meant that figuratively as I would find it hard to beleive that three umpires could pull off such a collaboration. They did however put away the whistle in the 3rd quarter and I have absolutley no trouble believing that the umps do have specific instructions to do this in certain situations and to target certain infringements in ceratin rounds...despite the denials by the AFL...I am old...I have seen many many seasons of footy...conspiracy no...marketing yes most definitely.

And just a PS.
I thoroughly enjoyed the win and thought the Dons were always a threat...they always are.

Also I try to watch every game which is on the tele, Pies or not and hate any game which is marred by inconsistant umpiring...even Swans games.

I love the Pies but I also love the game. The game is the attraction and recent manipulation of the rules by Bartlett and scurvy crew is bringing it down...I also understand that the Umps are just human and trying to comprehend the rules as set out by the "Feral Coconut"(KB) and Co.

they are way to inconsistant .... they were pretty bad but not as bad as the game against melbourne ..... i think the umps should sit down and figure out the rules because one week u can get away with somethin the next week they'll pay 50 against ya for doing the same thing.
