Im just me, Im just me being original. I have attended to be exactly 5 GWS games in my lifetime.

2 at Showgrounds, 1 at Olympic Stadium, 1 at the SCG in a Final, 1 at the Subiaco Oval in Perth.

Ill give you this, GWS fans are the most open in the league. You can walk up to them and strike a conversation and in a friendly way. I dont think Ive ever bumped into one that has ignored me or been too busy. Ill also pay this, playing a game out a the Showgrounds, there is that sense of community- its a bond.

An event at the SCG, you feel like your in a hurry, your in a hustle............

Can I ask which club you support because you keep talking of 'gws fans' as the other, yet your team flag next to your user name is a giants one, so it's confusing.

They've been to 5 games....
I understand different people from different areas wanting different things...but I think they are just a little off the mark with what a Western Sydney means to people. And what the SCG signifies to people.

If Parramatta Stadium was oval shaped then that would be a better option than the SCG and would generate much bigger crowds than 10k. The problem is the Homebush precinct.
Sorry everybody, The J Dog; the Brisbane supportor has spoken; off to the scg we go; How do you manage all of your profiles; it must be a full time job

Definitely not trolling. I live in the inner west. Do you think crowds of 10k are acceptable?

Are you an SCG member or perhaps an MCC member with its reciprocal rights??? Cmon, tell us; what your angle is. Use any one of your profiles. 418 comments and 95 likes, I think your trolling yourself.

10k is perfectly acceptable; Melbourne attendances are a freak of nature in the global context.

that part I don't agree with. We want or need to be sitting at around a 15 to 17k average at the Showgrounds.

15,000 should definitely be the goal for the club.

We averaged just over 12,000 in 2024. Obviously that figure is propped up by the Collingwood and Swans matches, but we can safely assume those two games will continue as permanent fixtures on the Giants Stadium calendar.

Last year I raised some suggestions on here to boost attendance but the club has been very stubborn in its approach to Membership packages on offer. The AFL and the club itself keep talking about the long game strategy of winning hearts and minds in a rugby league dominant region, and yet we see very little evidence that they're actually serious about it.

Agreed, even worse all their latest media pushes the narrative we are moving away from the Western Sydney name and being “The Giants” which is more than disappointing it’s bloody self destructive and gives ammunition to those wanting us to fail that the club isn’t all in, along with the part time stuff.

What were your suggestions and do you mean you voiced them to the club or on here? They are a bit slow on the uptake with a few things I've had this myself, but they are putting more resources into western sydney since Dillon has come on board.

Everyone who I listens to , says the Showgrounds was a crap spectacle to watch Big Bash Cricket.

I admit only have been to an AFL game at the Showgrounds 2-3 times in my lifetime.

Im not from Sydney originally but how you can not resist evenings in Sydney at the SCG? Those views [emoji7]

if Geelong fans have to travel an hour to get to the MCG, Freo fans have to travel from Cockburn around 45 minutes to Perth Stadium , Western Sydney fans can come to the SCG for a big game.

Id even say move all their Finals to the SCG. [emoji106] I too am convinced for a finals , for a big fixture against the Big 4 from Victoria, you can clear 20k+.

Absolute no. SCG is not the answer. I have taken many a WA club supporter to Engie stadium and they say it is an amazing place to watch footy. And they mean it. We just need to fill it. When we do the atmosphere will be electric

Look, no offense, but you're either lying to try and boost your credentials or you're seriously out of your tree.

Yep. Westfield parramatta is a hole. And that Coming from a guy whose closest big shopping centre is in Campbelltown

That’s nice.

Well then support the swans, we aren’t an Eastern Sydney side.
I’m quite happy going to the locker room then to a game with a great bunch of supporters, for the most part.

We aren’t Eastern Suburbs.

Did you really use your alt to start of this thread?

I’d also like to point out I’m still being polite.

Agree. People keep saying about nothing to do before the game. I love going to the locker room before the game

Nah, he's referring to The J Dog having Brisbane as his team.

Still think it’s you being a shit-stirrer …. ;)
I'd be calling for us to play AFLX out of Parramatta Stadium well before heading to the SCG.

Self-destructive is the word. It's interesting how many randoms will walk up and comment if they see me in a GWS hat. It's usually a mix of curiosity and mentioning that they 'should' pay more attention because the Giants are a Western Sydney team. We need to represent something specific and not everything. Ask Norths supporters how much they enjoyed the "Kangaroos" era...

Ill bring this one up as I mentioned this on another forum.

How about Opening round for the next Decade GWS v Collingwood at the Olympic Stadium, aka known as Accor Stadium?

The Giants are the AFLs Golden child and given that 21k went in Opening Round last season, the AFL would gladly shake your hand if its a stand alone fixture even or part of the Northern States round, to promote the game further. The AFL would be gleeing if they got a crowd of around 35k there.

There was a period of time Sydney Swans v Collingwood was an annual fixture at the Olympic Stadium , drawing in a regular 70-80k per game.

I believe if there is one game and one game only in a round, your schedule the game there. It looks good for numbers etc and you grow it year by year and steadily see the increase.

Forgot which profile you were using again?

Just want to have a real conversation about maximising crowds. Ive brought this same topic on another forum at Whirlpool. I care for this club and just voicing my opinions.
Hmmmm.

Just reading your comments on this thread say otherwise.
Calling us the Golden Child and “them” while having our colours in your bio tells me you aren’t here for the benefit of the club or fans.
Still think you are just bad at remembering which profile you are using.

Not sure what your point your trying to prove? I have bought a GWS jumper in my closet.

For a guy that has posted 38,000+ posts, why would I want to deceive or be someone who I am not? That isn't worth my time my friend.
