Maybe we hired a port assistant coach in advance to get our record back, lets congradulate the power, it was a real tough effort to beat 96 points. It makes our effort in 2000 look decent as well. Still the port supporters had a great year for 25 weeks then had a shocker this week, wish just beats our shocking 22 weeks.

I feel sorry for the poor bastards. Cheers for taking our record and all that, but that sort of apocalypse is unimaginable. Puts our performance in 2000 into perspective though.

At least, if you're a Port fan, you can compensate with the thought that you've already one a flag in the last few years. Imagine if it was somebody like the Dogs, St. Kilda or us who haven't won squat for years - you finally make a GF and get murdered in record fashion. Painful. Still, they finished about 11 spots higher than us on the ladder, so I wouldn't be too shattered.

I'm very happy the record was broken. I was at the 88 Gf and it was painful to watch yet I was rapt we made the GF in 88. Shame we weren't able to win a flag in the Northey era.
