The Upcoming game from Guerrilla Games. A open world Third person action RPG Featuring Robot Dinosaurs

Platform: PS4
Studio: Guerrila Games
Genre: RPG
Release Date: TBA 2016

Horizon Zero Dawn is set in a lush, beautiful open world where nature has reclaimed the ruins of a forgotten civilization. It is a world where mankind is not the dominant species, and highly advanced machines sit at the top of the food chain. You play as Aloy, a young outcast from a tribal society, who has learned to hunt the machines. Intent on unraveling the many mysteries that surround her, Aloy embarks on a quest that will lead her to discover her own destiny.

Along the way, Aloy will face off against an entire menagerie of machines – some traveling in herds, others roaming in solitude, all of them presenting a formidable danger. You will need to learn their behaviors, attack patterns and weak points in order to survive. You must use the beautiful environments to your advantage, and employ stealth, agility, and cunning to approach your prey unseen.

Of course, you won’t be hunting unarmed in Horizon Zero Dawn. Aloy is capable of combining natural materials with machine parts to turn them into ingenious weapons, ammunition, traps, and tools. By cleverly using the right items at the right moment, you can exploit weak points and bring down even the largest machines. Unfortunately, the most dangerous machines aren’t necessarily the biggest…

What the fudge? Looks awesome, and a really cool concept that doesn't seem absolutely absurd for the sake of it if you watch the trailer.

The story looks intriguing and the trailer leaves a lot of mystery.

I think it'll be more Tomb Raider esque, which is okay, the problem is that game wasn't open world, quite linear and a bit short.

Also has a female protagonist. Awesome.

Having just watched the trailer properly, this looks incredible.

Graphics are gorgeous and it's a nice change up from the usual with Guerilla, I'm sure they want a change too and this looks like the right direction. A bit of Turok, a bit of Tomb Raider and a bit of Witcher. Yes, please!

Can't wait to see how big the world is and what you can really do in it.

Amazed that this comes from the same guys who did Killzone.

Looks great.

They can make amazing looking games, but the story fails to live up. but they have hired new people to write the game. the first they hired was the guy who wrote Fallout 3 or New Vegas. and early this year they hired one of the Witcher 3 writers. so they got some good open world writers, lets hope it works out.

That's the interesting part of this studio the lore behind Kilzone is amazing but they fail horrible getting that cross the game, being an open world game helping tell the story when its not mission based plus the talent they've pick up has me quite excited, gameplay and visuals have never been a problem for GG, could very well be the time the studio leaps from being mediocre to elite.

Best new IP from E3 I thought. Really like the look of the game, cool concept with robot/dinosaurs. Loved the way Aloy was commenting throughout the action, makes it more real.

Wonder how they'll do the open world stuff. Thought it may have been a bit more linear, which is generally something I prefer, but will probably work well as an open world game.

its winning a bunch of best in show awards at E3.

The project, which began back in 2011 and really ramped up production after the launch of Killzone: Shadow Fall, looks to be the most ambitious game Guerrilla has ever worked on. According to the studio, the single-player, completely open-world (meaning that anywhere you see, you can go) action-RPG falls halfway on the spectrum between the action-oriented open world games that Ubisoft has been producing for the past 7 years, and the most RPG-focused adventures that Bethesda works on.

You play as Aloy, the woman who was featured front and center in the reveal footage. Looking like something ripped straight out of Pixar’s Brave, she has a special bond with the mechanical beasts that she hunts. Guerrilla stressed that Aloy isn’t just a murderer – the way she connects with the raptor-esque Watcher when she performs a stealth kill shows the sort of relationship she has with the inhabitants of the crumbled world around her.

Throughout Horizon, you’ll be leveling up Aloy, crafting new items with the various materials you scavenge across the world, and visiting a King’s Landing-looking city that seems to be a safe haven from the machines that roam the wild. Guerrilla showed us a piece of concept art that featured a sun-baked city filled with a bustling marketplace and even some robo dogs that were just hanging around and not eating anybody. I can imagine collecting contracts, meeting other characters, and trading in my loot back at this hub.

Of course, as far as the core combat goes, Horizon seems to deliver an incredibly intense experience. Watching Aloy set up a series of tripwires across two tall rocks, scaring a group of Grazers into running off, and seeing them set off the bombs and get completely blown apart showcased the neat sandbox elements that Guerrilla promised throughout Horizon. When it came to fighting the big hulking dino at the end of the demo, watching her target specific armor plates, shoot them off with her armor-piercing arrows, and attack the weaker core with a barrage of fire arrows cued us in to just how deep each of these massive encounters could be.

There was a twitch strema last night with the developers, talked a bit about game play aspects, made me even more excited. Seems that the game will force you to kills/disarm things in different ways depending on the items you want to gather, gave the impression some methods might damage x item you want.

In their SIGGRAPH 2015 presentation based on the real-time Volumetric Cloudscapes in Horizon Zero Dawn, Principal FX Artist Andrew Schneider details their methods for rendering the clouds in Horizon Zero Dawn, also explaining the importance of them in an open world game.

According to Andrew, their aim with Horizon Zero Dawn was to create an open world game where the players can “traverse large distances.” This was obviously a challenge for them considering their track record with the Killzone series.

“In the past, Guerrilla has been known for the KILLZONE series of games, which are first person shooters, ” said Andrew in the presentation. “FPS usually restrict the player to a predefined track, which means that we could hand place elements like clouds using billboards and highly detailed sky domes to create a heavily art directed sky.”

The Thunder Jaws look like they will kill me heaps on higher difficulties. and the detail on it WTF? 93 destructible bits of Armor each with different health values.

I hope it all comes together well, and hope it still makes its Holiday '16 release
