Despite the Hornets miserable defeat against the Pistons, Baron Davis and his Hornets seem to be back in town. Being half a game out of the 8, you have to start thinking how hard the Hornets are going to be to beat, when Jamal Mashburn returns. They travel to Illonis on Wedensday to take on the Chicago Bulls, who came off with a victory, in the biggest upset of the year. In recent times, the Hornets have struggled against the Bulls. I remember back to a game last year against the Bulls, where the Hornets went into the game paying $1.12, clear favourites. The Hornets came away with the victory in the end, back in tripple overtime. I wouldnt mind putting a bet on Chiacgo if they are over $4, because they might just upset the Hornets.

But I would just like to know how everyone thinks the Hornets will finish up, and maybe include the top 12 ladder to conclude the 82 games.

MY SELECTION

Milwaukee - 59 - 23
New Jersey - 56 - 26
Indiana - 53 - 29
Washington - 50 - 32
Boston - 50 - 32
Orlando - 47 - 35
Charlotte - 43 - 39
Philadelphia - 42 - 40

Toronto - 41 - 41
Detroit - 37 - 45
New York - 35 - 47
Cleveland - 29 - 53

I dont think the Hornets will do much this season, i can see them making the playoffs but anything past a first round exit will be a plus for them even with Mash back.

The 8 right now are..

1. New Jersey
2. Milwaukee
3. Boston
4. Toronto
5. Indiana
6. Washington
7. Orlando
8. Detroit

Now i think 2 of those teams will be replaced by Philly and Charlotte and i think 1 of the two that will be replaced will be Detroit, as for the other team....well...

Jod, you might be able to help me here mate!
With this Tiebreak rule, which is used to seperate sides at the end of the season, if teams are on the equal amount of wins and loses as eachother, how does this tiebreak rule work?

I think the number 1 rule is head-head games during the season, but what if they stand at 2-2, whats the next rule after that.

Also, just say Charlotte, Detroit and Orlando at one stage are all 20 wins and 20 loses each. What team will be ranked 7th, 8th and 9th. I know Charlotte have beat Orlando once this season, and Orlando have beat Charlotte once. And I think Detroit lead Charlotte 2-1. So if all teams are 20-20, what teams will be ranked 7th, 8th and 9th? Thanks...

tie-breaker rules...

with two teams tied...
after head-to-head...

you'd look at the higher winning % in conference games...

if thats still equal (rarely), you'd go on to looking at the higher winning % within division..

with three teams tied..
best head-to-head winning % among all teams tied..
then again, highest winning % in conference games..

Yep, after head to head you go to your record against your conference, in Charlottes case, the Eastern Conference. After that if its tied which as Coxy said is pretty rare, then you go to your record against your division, which in Charlottes case in the Central Division.

Yea, thats what I thought.
So if Charlotte, Detroit and Orlando are all on .500%, what teams would be placed 7th, 8th and 9th just out of the top of your head?

Thanks :)

To be honest i couldnt tell ya, i could find out what the results were between the teams but off the top of my head i cant remember who beat who earlier in the season.

Charlotte may be buzzing in the East, but when they fly West, Buzzards will be circling their rotten corpse.
