Wonder when the government and media will start taking the ice problem in this country seriously
Add in the homeless problem.
Lot of rumours flying round Melbourne as to what happened.
He wasn't paid for the dog they had.
2 dogs were with hom
It was related to a personal dispute
Reports to the RSPCA
He knew them before
Terrible case and circumstances.
Guess all the details will come out in court.
What has been reported is the guy was homeless there has been an altercation and screams coming from the unit and police were called twice by neighbours. Guy was bloody and arrested about 3 suburbs east Potentially substance abuse and/or a mental health issue.
Will be adjourned I guess while police have a chance to investigate and put things together.

Seen a few comments floating around of it having to do with them not paying him for a dog he gave them.
Extravagantly over the top if this is the reason. It's not like doing that will help get his money either.

Utterly odd one, I assume drugs were related in some capacity.

Near my folks.
Bloody horrific. Thoughts are with the families involved.
Decapitated head put onto a stick is just beyond cooked.

According to the Daily Mail, Athena Georgopoulos was set to face a plea hearing at Ringwood Magistrates' Court on September 1 for car theft and burglary charges.

The more that comes out, the more horrifying it all is.

Will never be able to comprehend how one person can do that to another.
Pretty easy to comprehend imo

We've accepted mass-homelessness and shut down mental health facilities, you can no longer have a sick person "committed"

The social contract has been ripped up

A lot of people out there are pretty desperate and have nothing to lose

Can tell you this much as someone who has worked in the health system in a major hospital I worked at was having to use the neurology ward or flat out not admit patients to the Psychiatric ward so they went straight back onto the street, so bad was the funding and allocating of resources. And this was years ago. Society is bearing the fruits of this neglect with those in power thinking they can ignore the problem away.

We’ve already had Bondi Junction as the ultimate horror story involving a failure to deal with a mentally ill vagrant, and there has been a smattering of others (including this and one in Bellfield late last year).

It happens just rarely enough for the news cycle to move on, but the failure to grapple with this issue is a major societal failure and both sides of the political aisle seem invested in the status quo (the right because of the cost of housing them and the left because of the desire to preserve the rights of the mentally ill).

Something must be done.

They haven’t ignored it. I can guarantee they’ve been briefed about it.

They’ve simply decided it’s not worth the cost of fixing.
