Hotter than Hell - '98

Hands down, best piece of Melbourne memorabilia I have.

Might crank it out sometime this week for a bit of inspiration before the season starts on Saturday.

Nothing gets the juice flowing like watching Smoker getting a bagful at the SCG, Farmer kicking 9 in a half on QB (after Beams had broken his arm), Grgic slotting home helicopter punts and Matthew Collins streaming out of the backline, ball tucked under the arm. :D

Have to agree with you on that one, its a great video to watch after a few beers!! Didnt farmer kick 9 on QB in 2000? i most likely am wrong but i thought it was then, and then i think he kicked another 8 the week after against Hawthorn?? How good was his last mark against Collingwood, took it while lieing on his side on someones back!!

Still one of my favourite AFL footballers when he has his head screwed on (which he sometimes struggles to do)

Am I getting my Hotter than Hell mixed up with my Dynamic Demon's of 2000?

Tut tut. I'm sure Farmer kicked a bag at some point in '98, he took that screamer over Lyon in Round 22.

How about the movie after the 94 season (there was amovie for this wasnt there? or am i dreaming about it) Best match of the yr would of been the last game against the swans when the Ox showed us what he should of been like for his whole career, one of the best individual displays i have seen, and reminds me of why he was my favourite player!!

Hotter Than Hell is notable for featuring interviews with Todd Viney in his kitchen and for showing the wrong score for one of the games.

Also gives us happy memories of Sandy Roberts saying "Welcome back, Gary Lyon!" in the most ridiculous voice any human has ever attempted.

Farmer kicked 9 against collingwood in 2000.

The 98 video is awesum. Brent Girgic's BOG performance against collingwood in round 8 or 9. It was also the coming of Travis Johnstone who booted 4 goals.

I loved seing Marcus Seecamp stream out of the backline and a very yung shane woewodin doing the same.

Round 2 aginst north Gary Lyon's tackle in the centre square changed the momentum of the game.

Todd Viney polling 4 best BOG's early on and was a bolter in the Brownlow that year.

Woey's goal against port. Farmers attempt to win mark and goal of the year.

Plenty other highlights that will come to me.

Highlights from the 2000 video....

James Cooks 6 goals vs North in round 2
Brent Gigic's right foot checkside against north in the prelim final.

Hotter than Hell is the best VHS tape I own....
I bring it out at least 2-3 times every year...
My favorite piece of footage is when Melb vs Haw on that cold raining day and farmer kicks to what I still believe as the best goal I have ever seen...

Famrer gathers on the half back flank... chips it to garry lyon, keeps running gets it back lets loose from around 55m out with a mighty torp on the run.... in the wet!!!
Classic.. gives me tingles....

"They stand as one this crowd!" Roberts was on fire that day, he even went off his nut when Lyon kicked the snap goal from the pocket and Farmer slammed into him in celebration. Also memorable for listening to Doug Hawkins stuff up EVERY line he said during that North game!

I've never seen the 2000 video actually. I had the 2002 one somewhere but it's on VHS so there's no chance of that getting a run.

Do they even do these anymore? There's three years of us actually being semi good (04-06) that will go unremembered if they're not committed to tape or DVD somewhere. How about a box set of 98/00/02/04/05/06 season reviews? That would be tops.

I still remember that goal, down at Waverley Park. Can't believe it's 10 years ago!

I remember sitting in the open when it opened up and started pouring like a bastard in the last quarter. And the traditional 9 hr trip back home via buses that sat in the carpark for 3hrs and the ****ing Glen Waverley line

oh yes, the ol' demon attack - still gets a run in fuzzy's house maybe every 2 years.
Some of the highlights include:
- Allan Jakovich at his absolute best, before slipping a disc in his back against hawthorn after kicking 8 goals and never playing for melbourne again
- sean charles and andy lovell tearing up teams
- garry lyons 10 against the dogs in a semi final
- winning the first 6 games to be on top of the ladder

People often talk about Ox and what he could have been had injury not intervened, but Jako is the one i wonder about. Just a quick reminder of some of what he did do in his short time at the dees:

- kicked 71 goals in his first year - from 14 games
- kicked 201 goals from 47 games
- kicked 5 goals or over 20 times
- kicked 7 goals or over 12 times
- was infuriatingly inaccurate at goal, kicking 5 behinds or over 14 times

what could have been i guess, but was one of the most exciting players to watch on his day. Think the wiz in key position form.

Jackovich could have been one of the best ever.
I mean that, he had ridiculous ability.
Anyone remember his scissor kick goal? WTF?

Gotta love the Wiz. Wouldn't mind seeing a score line like taht in Round 1.

The narration by Peter Donegan i think it is, is top notch stuff .

Marcus Seecamp smacking Brad Pearce is classic :D
