Calling Neill a coward for his tackle on Carragher. Now it was an appalling tackle. I don't personally think it was cowardly or malicious but Neill really can't complain about any criticism he gets after putting a player out for half a year.

My problem is that Houllier has defended Gerrard time and time again for similar tackles, just as he has defended Owen and Heskey time and time again for their consistent dives only to throw a hissy fit whenever anyone else gets away with it.

I didn't have a lot of time for him due to the style of game he has got Liverpool playing but he is fast becoming the premier league manager I dislike the most.

I thought he had a shot at Neill not for the tackle itself, but more for the way he carried on afterwards, somehow thinking it was an injustice to be sent off!

It was a disgraceful challenge. Should get 4-5 matches minimum.

Crikey a coach defending his own players. What next?

Got no problem with a coach defending his players, although I lose a lot of respect for the two or three coaches in the EPL that consistently defend the indefensible.

However when you consistently ignore things that your own players do, but go over the top in your criticism of opposition players doing exactly the same thing you'll leave yourself open to accusations of hypocrisy.

GH, he has had a go at the actual tackle calling it a cowards tackle, Neills reaction to it (he has in todays paper whinged that Neill hasn't apologised which is clearly incorrect), Souness' reaction to it, and pretty much everyone that is not wearing a Liverpool strip.

I though exactly the same thing Moomba, to hear him bleat on about one particular Gerrard two footed lunge last season that was every bit as bad if not worse than Neill's (except he didn't break someone's leg) & harange the press for a 'witch hunt' against Gerrard & then say that Neill should be banned for as long as Carragher is out is pathetic.

And then he has a pop at Souey for not apologising to him!

I mean would it really mean so much to him for Souness to come up & say sorry for the actions of his players?

He's a 22 carat arseh*le is Houllier, he's always moaning about some opposition player or manager, they've always disrespected him or his club & as in the even Thompson incident recently when he says he 'never' talks about other clubs or players but he does it the whole time, he's always creating some sort of feud & bad mouthing somebody.

This is the guy who branded Ginola a 'criminal' for the crime of losing possession in the last minute of a fRance game versus Israel, talk about a lack of perspective.

Fair enough.

Gerrard has been getting into a nasty habbit and as you say if GH thinks what Neill did was so bad he should be maing sure Gerrard never does the same thing again

At the same time he needs to say something against what happened but you are probably right that calling it a cowards act is way over the top.

The French are very emotional though;)

Ah well, the ****'s on borrowed time... might as well take a few down with him.

It was amazing how Neil was carrying on like he did nothing and shouldn't have been sent off.

He shouldn't be gone for 6 months(Like Houllier said) but I think he should be gone for about 5 weeks. You could imagine he would have been upset after 2 of his players will be out for a while.

he said in an interview, "i play hard and thats wat i was doing... i tried to do my best, unfortunatley he got injured. I'm sorry this happened, however nothing can be changed and ill accept what happens" lucas neill

Nah as moomba pointed to, GH can go and get blown.

Stevie G flies into dangerous and reckless challenges every second game - it's only a miracle that he hasn't seriously injured or maimed someone by now...

What about that two-footed stomp on Naysmith's nuts last season?

Houllier is an idiot and should shut his fat talkhole.

"Neill is a coward"... that must make Gerrard what then?...

Souness said: "I saw Gerard Houllier after the game. He grabbed me from behind and squeezed my hips in a friendly gesture - so I can't understand where his anger's come from.
Erm...I dunno about you guys, but I would demand an apology from Houlliers just because he grabbed my hips.
