HOUSTON (AP)—Yao Ming is out for the season with a stress fracture in his left foot.
Rockets general manager Daryl Morey announced the decision on Tuesday.
Yao is averaging 22 points and 10.8 rebounds for the Rockets, who have won 12 straight games.

Looks like Warriors are in!

At 7"6, he's always going to be plagued by injuries.

I wouldn't write off Houston completely though - they still have a shot at it.

No they don't.
As it was they would have been lucky to get through the second round, as it is now they will be competing for the 7th and 8th spots with the Warriors and the Nuggets.

I was referring to making the playoffs, not winning the whole thing.

According to the article I read, they said there was really nothing Yao could have done to prevent the injury. Uh huh. So I guess there's nothing he can do to prevent it next season, and the season after, etc?

Are they saying they've just built their franchise around a guy who's basically prone to foot/leg injuries who won't be able to run out the season? The Rockets really need to think about that one.

Mutombo too the rescue!!!

my first response when i heard the news---- meh

i knew it was going to happen, good to see we are still winning

houston should try trade Yao sometime next season when he gets fit.

Its obvious he doesnt have what it takes physically and mentally to get the championship.

trade him before it gets too late and they can still get some value in the dollar. As MDC said he is always going to be plauged with injuries

imagine if t-mac stayed with orlando now....

Obviously its going to hurt them but they were never going to win the Championship, they are the third best team in Texas for a start and then there is LA, Phoenix and New Orleans in the West, then you have Boston and Detroit in the East. I agree explore with trading him and see what you could possibly get in return.

Real blow for Houston. Im a rockets fan mainly because I just the big Chinese fella!! When he is fit, they can beat anyone. They were on a massive tear but now with Yao out im sure that winning streak will come to an end. I think they can hang on and still make the playoffs but whats the point really? Without Yao, they will never get out of the first round.
