Every time we start Hille in the ruck this year the opposition has got off to a flyer. Then we put Alessio on in the 2nd qtr and start playing catch up football. Clearly so far this season Alessio is the one making the impact in the ruck. Why don't we play him as the #1 ruck for the entire game, with Hille playing center half forward, taking the ruck duties in the f50 to give Cess a rest and allow him to play out the entire game?

It seems like the perfect solution to me. We get the presence we need in the ruck (especially center bounces), plus we get a tall, center half forward that can take strong contested marks, who is still getting the ruck and game experience he needs. A forward line of Lloyd, Hille, Lucas, Cupido, McVeigh could be quite potent. A third tall option in the forward line will allow our midfielders to move the ball faster and longer than they have been.

Thoughts?

Not a bad suggestion. I think you are a bit harsh on Hille. he is showing signs of improvement in the ruck, but he is still too small at the boundary throw ins. Hille is suited to certain types of ruckman, the big bash and crash boys push him aside.

I thought we looked our best against Brisbane with Hille at CHF. He seems to lead well and times his leads. Good set of hands, and is becoming less of a pansy in marking contests.

But Sheedy won;t do it, because Sheedy won't do anything logical, because he might start to seem sane, no wait that could never happen.

Hille's always looked more comfortable as a forward. Why not groom him to play CHF? I'd much rather see him there over Lucas, who should be played at CHB and kept there.

Maybe we ought to think about starting to blood O'Keefe or Cartledge or one of those guys in the ruck.

O'Keefe has been way too injury prone. I think he will be our no.1 ruck soon. Is more natural a ruckman. Lay**** like Hille look to be more suited up forward.

And agree if that were to happen, that is, play Hille CHF and LEAVE Scotty down back. This idea of switching player forward an back is stupid. Leave em in one spot and do it only when necessary. Scotty at CHB will give us oodles of run and I think Hille could help us move it better.

Scotty was devastating at CHB late last year, I don't know why we don't persist with that setup. The only thing I can think of is it is because he kicks goals, but wouldn't he be better suited to a flank/pocket for that anyway?

The problem is, our forward line is up the spout. Always been too Lloyd conscious. The forward line looked good against melbourne.

It was Jacobs, Rioli, Cupido, Lloyd, and Scotty. Played the loose man. If we had too include another, maybe young Watson or McVeigh, or Hird, but he is better suited on the ball or as a flanker.

Could push Either Scotty or Danny-boy down back, but Sheedy should pick one and leave him there.

Hille has always looked better around the ground so CHF is a good opption - stretches the opposition backline if the forward line read Rioli Hille Lucas, McVeigh Lloyd Cupido. Quick, but tall. I hate the 4 tall forward line, we always look sooooo slow.

My main concern with Hille at CHF is a) he doesn;t always put in, b) as a result he seems too soft.

However perhaps CHF is better suited - could become like CES was CHF in 1995 - very damaging.

theres no doubt that ses is playing the better, but it is probably his last yr and david hille will be no.1 ruck next yr so there giving him experience.
