Hello,

I've been a keen fisherman all my life but most of that has been in the bush. I've caught everything there is to catch out of the Murray (this includes a rat, a turtle and a platypus).

I moved to Geelong then to Melbourne about 10 years ago and never really took up fishing cos I'd spent 20 years learning how to catch cod and trout. Didn't want to be a n00b. Recently however I've learnt how to fish the surf and have been doing a fair bit of that down at Aries Inlet and when I get the chance out near Lakes Entrance. The problem is I have to drive for miles to do this. I want to fish within 20 minutes of home when the need strikes me, so I've been looking up the docklands. Most of it is easy to understand except the bait. Where the hell do I get Sandworm? How can I find fresh water yabbies in Melbourne? Pealed prawn from where? Do I just go to the Vic market, my supermarket? Is there a good website on bait for pier fishing?

Also, can I fish out of the Yarra up near Darebin? I live in Ivanhoe and would love just to go down the park and drop in a line.
